This year’s Big Idea Week at DUMBO’s new community elementary school made it into the New York Times!
Big Idea Week brought together P.S. 307 with mentors from local tech companies from May 16th to 20th to light the imagination of 5th grade students. They were welcomed by Etsy, BioLite, Flocabulary, MakerBot, and Huge – all based in DUMBO!
Throughout this week, 5th graders were challenged to think of a problem and develop a product to solve it. Through the process they learn 21st century skills and practice applying STEM to the real world. The next step will be to have the fifth graders visit their mentors’ workspaces over the coming weeks!
