BASIS Independent Brooklyn: Curious Students. Expert Teachers. Endless Potential. (sponsored)

As children enter grade school, they gain an awareness of their personal interests and goals—one might be a voracious reader and another a skilled mathematician. Whatever their passions may be, in order for students to most effectively develop, learn, and thrive, the classroom must be a place of stimulation, inquiry, and wonder.

At BASIS Independent Brooklyn, a PreK–12 private school in Red Hook, students are inspired daily to uncover their potential in a program rooted in the liberal arts and sciences. The hallmark of student success in the primary years (grades 1–4) is the unique two-teacher model: each foundational course block is guided by the expertise of a Subject Expert Teacher (SET) and a Learning Expert Teacher (LET).

The SETs are masters in their fields and craft content-rich and thought-provoking lessons while the LETs, with deep knowledge of effective pedagogical techniques, provide consistency in individual expectations. Together, they focus on building a school culture of social-emotional and academic support by encouraging students to be curious, creative, and proactive learners.

If you are interested in learning how the experts at BASIS Independent Brooklyn inspire students to truly love learning, develop a fascination for critical inquiry, and formulate their own goals inside and outside of school, join school leadership on Thursday, December 7, at 6:30 PM at an immersive Primary Night.
