Families who are getting ready to apply for Pre-K and Kindergarten in local public schools with children born in 2013 or younger should mark their calendars for fall open houses at elementary schools in our neighborhood. You can apply apply to Kindergarten in public schools from November 28, 2017 to January 12, 2018 for children born in 2013 online.
PS 8 / Brooklyn Heights: Only takes in-zone students, currently has a wait-list for Kindergarten. They will host open houses on December 6, 2017 Please Register Here, January 10, 2018 Please Register Here and February 28, 2018 Please Register Here.
PS 307 / Vinegar Hill: Magnet school for STEM studies, takes out-of-zone students. Offers expansive Pre-K program. Open houses will take place on Tuesdays 9-10am December 5, 12, 19. More information about the school here.
PS 29 / Cobble Hill: Only takes in-zone students, currently has wait-list for Kindergarten. PS 29’s only Open House will be on December 5th, 2017 at 9 AM. They do not hold a Pre-K tour as they have a very limited number of Pre-K seats that are usually taken up by siblings. More information here.

PS 261 / Downtown Brooklyn: Zoned school, has been taking out-of-zone students in the past. School tours will take place on December 6th, 2017 and January 10th, 2018 at 9 am. More information here.
PS 9 / Prospect Heights: Zoned school, has been taking out-of-zone students into their general education and Spanish dual language programs. Also runs G&T program for District 13. School tours will take place at 9 am on December 15th, 2017, January 19th, 2018 and February 9th, 2018. More information here.
PS 133 / Gowanus: Un-zoned school that runs French and Spanish dual language programs as well as general education classes, draws by lottery from District 13 and 15. RSVP for upcoming open houses on their website.
Brooklyn New School / Carroll Gardens: Un-zoned school, draws by lottery from District 13,14,15 and 16. Open houses will take place on Wednesday December 6, 2017 from 9 to 10:30 am, Thursday December 21, 2017 from 9 to 10:30 am, Monday January 8, 2018 from 9 to 10:30 am, Tuesday January 16, 2018 from 6 to 7:30 pm, Wednesday January 31, 2018 from 9 to 10:30 am, Tuesday February 13, 2018 from 6 to 7:30 pm and Thursday March 1, 2018 from 9 to10:30 am.
