Free fitness classes for grown-ups in Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park offers various free fitness classes for adults in the park throughout the summer. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Here is our overview:

Broadway Dance at Pier 2: Set to swinging show tunes, this class is appropriate for anyone who wants a safe, effective and fun workout. Sneakers are a must. Mondays at 10 am from May 9 until August 8. More info here.

NYRR Open Run at Pier 6: Open runs for all – whether you’re a first time runner, a seasoned marathoner, or you prefer to walk, you’re welcome along. Strollers and dogs on leashes welcome. Thursdays at 7 pm all year long. Please note that weekly run will switch from Thursday to Tuesday nights starting on Tuesday June 7, 2016. The last Thursday night Open Run will be Thursday June 2.

Sunrise Yoga at Pier 6: Join Sunrise Abhaya Yoga for a yoga class that integrates postures, breathing exercises, relaxation and meditation to stretch, strengthen and condition. Mondays at 7:30 am from June 6 to July 25. More info here.

Ballet Barre at Pier 2:  Based on ballet techniques and movements, this class will engage muscles in focused exercises for a complete body workout.  Mondays at 7 pm from June 6 to August 8. More info here.

Zumba at Pier 2: ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness program. The routines feature aerobic training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Sundays at 4:30 pm from June 12 to August 14. More info here.

Grit at Pier 2: An explosive high-impact body weight-based workout. Provides the double whammy of maximizing calorie burn within the workout and burning fat for hours afterwards. Sundays at 4 pm from June 19 to July 31. More info here.

Double Dutch at Pier 2: Learn to double dutch in a block party environment with experienced Brooklyn based Double Dutch Empire instructors. Open to all abilities and recommended for ages 15 and up. Wednesdays at 7 pm from June 22 to August 3. More info here.

Piyo at Pier 6: Build power and increase speed and leg strength. This class increases muscular endurance and stamina for competitive sports events and uses power agility training to transform muscle fiber and produce a lean, athletic shape. Wednesdays at 7 pm from June 22 to August 17. Hip Hop Dance Aerobics at Pier 3: A cardiovascular workout using urban upbeat Hip Hop music. This class teaches step by step movements with fun choreography, so you can get your feet moving and your heart pumping. Fridays at 7 pm from July 1 to August 12. More info here.

Pilates at Empire Fulton Ferry: These Pilates Mat Classes will teach you to properly activate the muscles of your abdomen and back to create an incredible amount of stability in your torso. Tuesdays at 7 pm from June 28 to September 6. Read more here.
