Free fitness classes in Brooklyn Bridge Park this summer

Brooklyn Bridge Park offers various free fitness classes for adults in the park throughout the summer. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Here is our overview:

Broadway Dance at Pier 2: Set to swinging show tunes, this class is appropriate for anyone who wants a safe, effective and fun workout. Sneakers are a must. Mondays at 10 am, May 8 – August 14. More info here

Bond Fitness at Pier 6: This class is designed to help new moms regain strength and vitality, while incorporating baby in the process. Also, provides opportunity to build relationships with other new parents.  Saturdays at 10 am, June 3 – June 24. More info here.

NYRR Open Run at Pier 6: Open runs for all – whether you’re a first time runner, a seasoned marathoner, or you prefer to walk, you’re welcome along. Strollers and dogs on leashes welcome. Open Runs happen every Tuesday night with a check-in at 6:45pm before the run starts at 7:00pm.

Zumba at Pier 2: ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness program. The routines feature aerobic training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Sundays at 4:30 pm, June 4 – August 13. More info here.

Sunrise Yoga at Pier 6: Join Sunrise Abhaya Yoga for a yoga class that integrates postures, breathing exercises, relaxation and meditation to stretch, strengthen and condition. Mondays at 7:30 am, June 5 – July 31. More info here.

Ballet Barre at Pier 2:  Based on ballet techniques and movements, this class will engage muscles in focused exercises for a complete body workout. Mondays at 7 pm, June 5 – August 7. More info here.

Double Dutch at Pier 2: Learn to double dutch in a block party environment with experienced Brooklyn based Double Dutch Empire instructors. Open to all abilities and recommended for ages 15 and up. Wednesdays at 7 pm, June 7 – August 30. More info here.

Piyo at Pier 6: Build power and increase speed and leg strength. This class increases muscular endurance and stamina for competitive sports events and uses power agility training to transform muscle fiber and produce a lean, athletic shape.
