Our annual Halloween event overview for children in Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO and beyond!

Subway Shindig for Families @ Transit Museum: Get dressed up for a fun evening of subway-themed Halloween fun with face painting, a “glow zone” and shadow puppet play.  All ages. New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Place and Schermerhorn Street. October 29th from 6-8 p.m. $7 adults/$5 children. Buy tickets here.

Halloween Movie @ Brooklyn Heights Library: Halloween-themed movie screening for all ages.  Wear your costume and get a freebie! Friday, October 30th at 3.30 pm at the Brooklyn Heights Library at Cadman Plaza West. Free!

Family Halloween Day @ Albee Square: Halloween festivities will include face painting and balloon art (10am-12pm), performances of “Dr. Finklestein’s Zombie Show” (10am and 11:30am), live music by DJ Mikey Palms + MC Alphabet (10:30am), and more. Treats will be given to all party attendees in costume.

Spook-Tacular Halloween Celebration @ NY Kids Club: The Spook-tacular Halloween Celebration features an extended open play in the gym, fun art projects, face painting and a costume parade. The trick-or-treaters will decorate halloween pumpkins, participate in a thematic sing-a-long and decorate cookies. 182 Henry Street on October 30th from 4:15 PM – 5:45 PM for ages 5 months to 4 years. $36 first child, $20 sibling. Halloween Party @ Recess DUMBO: Preview your Halloween costumes at this Halloween Party including decorating pumpkins and bobbing for treats. Win a prize for best costume in a number of different categories! Flexible drop-off is between 5:30 and 6pm with pick-up at 9:00pm. Pizza and an art project are included for kids ages 2.5 to 6 years old. (Children should have some prior separation experience!) Located at 81 Washington Street. $40 per child, siblings $30. Halloween Parade @ Pierrepont Playground: The annual parade will take place on October 31st at 10 am at the Pierrepont Playground at Pierrepont Place in Brooklyn Heights.

Garden Place in Brooklyn Heights: Toddlers start trick-or-treating around 3.30 pm on October 31st on Garden Place. The gathering runs all afternoon until dawn when everybody runs out of candy.

Cobble Hill Halloween parade: The crowd gathers on Saturday, October 31st at 4 pm at the Clinton Street entrance to Cobble Hill Park and then winds its way down Verandah, onto Henry, makes a left onto Baltic, then a left again on Clinton and goes back to the park.

DUMBO Halloween parade and Archway event: The annual event hosted by the DUMBO Business Improvement District starts with a gathering at Brooklyn Roasting Company, followed by a Halloween parade through the new park section to the Archway. It will take place on Saturday October 31st from 4.30 to 7 pm (trick-or-treat in local business all afternoon from 4 to 7 pm). Details below:

4.30 pm: Gathering, Jack O’Latern reading, and free hot chocolate at Brooklyn Roasting Company down at the end of Jay Street.

5 pm: March to the Arch steps off through the new Brooklyn Bridge Park section to the Archway under the Manhattan Bridge.

5 – 7 pm: Free kids activities in the Archway with costume contest, arts & crafts, photo booth, music and lots of candy.
