New swim and dance camps at the Y this summer (sponsored)

The Dodge YMCA Summer Camp at PS 261 will feature additionally to their classic day camps new swim and dance camps this summer.

NEW Swim Camp for ages 7-12

Our Swim Camp helps youth develop valuable skills, including safety and responsibility while swimming, and a lifetime love of the water. Campers will receive instructional swim at the Dodge YMCA four times a week, and receive additional pool time compared to traditional day camp.

The key components of Swim Camp are:

  • Young swimmers are given the chance to build skills.
  • Stroke development and training is tailored to age and skill level.
  • Swim campers participate in core-camp activities.
  • With personal growth and learning new skills, students build self-esteem.

Science Camp for ages 7-11

Campers will engage in scientific explorations that are so much fun they will forget they’re learning! Campers will team up with fellow engineers to build a bridge, participate in an unforgettable dinosaur dig, build and launch a model rocket and explore the science behind the projects!

Dance Camp for ages 8-10

Dance Camp is for all youth who have a passion for the art of dance. Our Educational Dance Camp will involve warmups necessary to get the body ready for the technical skills being taught. Our skilled instructors will work with all different levels of dancers, from beginner to advanced. Your child will also learn the different aspects of a dance program such as class etiquette and performance readiness, including makeup and costuming. Each class will include across-the-floor drills, technique and a routine. Every session will end with a mini showcase of skills learned. Dance includes: Jazz, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, Ballet, and Tap. Proper attire will be enforced to make sure each dancer is equipped and ready to learn to the best of their ability.

Camp dates are 7/2 to 8/24 from 8 am – 6 pm. Weekly sign-up for all camps starts at $300, details here.
