PS 8 in Brooklyn Heights discontinues pre-k program

PS 8 will stop offering pre-k as of next school year 2014/2015 to ensure adequate classroom space for the increasing number of students for kindergarten and up. The DOE has agreed that the school simply has no space to continue offering the program for 4-year-olds. While families with older kids at PS 8 had a good chance to get into the pre-k program, families new to the neighborhood or for their first child, did not get into it anyway. Families will be able to apply for programs in other public schools in zone 13 or choose a private institution in the neighborhood.
