A new public middle school & Pre-K site coming to DUMBO

The new public school being built at 60 Water Street in DUMBO will not only house a middle school for district 13, but also a public Pre-K program.

Once completed, the middle school will accommodate 333 students, and is on track to open for the 2017 – 2018 school year, drawing students from all over district 13.

Additionally, the site will incorporate a Pre-K program with 72 seats, which breaks down to 4 Pre-K classes opening up for the Fall of 2016. According to a Deputy Press Secretary from the Department of Education, it has yet to be determined whether or not this will be a district-wide Pre-K program.

Two Trees has donated the land, core, and shell of the school in the new 60 Water Street building for $1.00. Two Trees confirmed to us that the school will occupy the second floor of the building, covering approximately 45,000 square feet. The NYC School Construction Authority will be managing the build-out of the space; stay tuned for renderings and further details!
