Free kid-friendly activities and events in March

We have put together an overview of free indoor activities and events for kids of all ages in Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights.

Bklyn Indoor Block Party @ City Point | 3/2

We will be co-hosting an epic indoor block party for families with children 1 to 10 at City Point Mall in Downtown Brooklyn on Saturday, March 2nd from 11 am to 4 pm. All activities will be free including lantern decorating, Beyblade tournament, coding, face painting, bouncy house, mini theater classes, Lego building, movie making and much more! Free Music Class @ FEED DUMBO | 3/3

A free baby music class, coffee and conversations every first Sunday of the month at 9 am at FEED coffee shop in the Empire Stores in DUMBO.

Free family program @ Brooklyn Historical Society DUMBO | Saturdays

Brooklyn Historical Society is offering a midmorning family programming geared towards children ages 2 and up and their adults twice a month at Brooklyn Historical Society DUMBO. Programs will alternate between storytelling and age appropriate hands-on activities designed for individual or multiple participants. All programs run from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm bimonthly on Saturdays (March 9th and March 30th). March 9 – Color a Mural  

March 30 – Storytelling: Design & Make Your Own Book

Free movie night @ Seamore’s DUMBO | Every Sunday 4 – 6 pm

Disney classics will be shown every Sunday starting at 4 pm at Seamore’s Restaurant in DUMBO until end of March. Free popcorn and ice cream from 4 – 6 pm.

Free concert @ DeKalb Market Hall | Every Monday and Thursday

Singing Cowboy every Monday and Thursday at 10.30 am at DeKalb Market Hall at City Point in Downtown Brooklyn.

Spanish music show @ Randolph Beer in Dumbo Heights | 3/10

A free music show for all little monsters up to 3 years old and their families. Rock n LoLo teaches Spanish through music. Randolph Beer will be opening their doors early, at 10am, on the second Sunday of every month (March 10th).

Family Brunch with free arts class & free food for kids @ Cecconi’s in DUMBO | 3/17

Bring your family in for a classic Cecconi’s brunch and inspire your child’s inner artist at a mixed-media class led by Curated Care. Kids will use painter’s tape to etch out the first letters of their names and make negative images of their initials. Plus, kids eat for free. Suitable for ages 2+. Event twill take place on Sunday 3/17 from 11 am to 1 pm. RSVP by e-mailing the Friends of Cecconis Dumbo team [email protected].

Brooklyn Heights Library | Ongoing

Free activities and events including babies & books, Lego club, Friday movie nights and more at the local public library at 109 Remsen Street taking place almost daily for babies up to teens. All details here!

DUMBO Tot Shabbat | Thursdays

The DUMBO Gan Preschool is hosting DUMBO Tot Shabbat on Thursdays from 3 to 4 pm at the DUMBO Gan at 205 Plymouth Street. Featuring an interactive kids Shabbat music class and challah baking. All ages are welcome. No need to RSVP, just show up.

Barnes & Noble Story Time | Saturdays

Saturdays at 11 am story time and activities for children 2 years and up at Barnes & Noble at 106 Court Street. Free! Detailed schedule here!

Environmental Education Center – Brooklyn Bridge Park | Ongoing

The center offers multiple interactive elements and a reading corner. It contains two signature exhibits: a marine aquarium and a Discovery Station. The 500-gallon display aquarium showcases fish collected from the East River during the Conservancy’s popular seining programs. The aquarium also contain a child-friendly touch tank where visitors can gently interact with starfish, crabs and mussels.The center inside the 99 Plymouth building in DUMBO is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays 1 to 5 pm as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 to 5 pm.
