Free outdoor kids events and activities in April

With the re-awakening of the City, Covid-safe outdoor events for families are coming back including free Earth Day Celebrations in DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn.

DUMBO Earth Day Celebration with Summer Camp Fair | 4/17

Brooklyn Bridge Parents and the DUMBO BID have partnered up to host a FREE Earth Day Celebration in the DUMBO Archway and Pearl Street Triangle on Saturday, April 17th. Come out to play, see your neighbors and friends and learn about local summer camps. Free RSVP  here.

Pop-up play series at Commodore Barry Park | 4/17

play:groundNYC is hosting a free play series to build and create through loose parts play at Commodore Barry Park on Saturday 4/17 from 12 to 3 pm. Weather permitting, masks are required.

Spring into Service in Brooklyn Heights | 4/18

The Brooklyn Heights Association is hosting a spring cleaning community day on Sunday, April 18th from 10 am to 12 pm on the Promenade. Join their spring celebration with a Promenade Parade, a neighborhood clean-up and tree bed planting. The BHA will be handing out supplies to clean up the neighborhood and plant some flowers.

Downtown Brooklyn car-free Earth Day | 4/24

Earth-friendly activation at Albee Square Plaza and Albee Square West – which will be closed to traffic all day. Bring your bikes, roller skates, and beach chairs and enjoy a car free street! Eco-friendly performances by Artichoke Dance Company. The free event will take place on Saturday 4/24 from 1.30 to 3 pm.

Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy Earth Day in Brooklyn Bridge Park | 4/24

The Conservancy is excited to celebrate Earth Day with a series of FREE fitness classes, self-led volunteer opportunities, and education programs on Saturday, April 24th. Choose from a meditative nature walk, family fitness, yoga, a coastal cleanup and scavenger hunt, horticulture volunteering, special Earth Day Storytime, and more. Find out more here.
