Free walking & running programs in local parks

Brooklyn Bridge Park and Fort Greene Park offer free running programs for grown-ups to shape up, connect with the community and take a break from the little ones or just bring them in the stroller….

Shape Up NYC | Fort Greene Park | Saturdays 10 to 11 am

This free walking program will help you move your body and connect with others in your community! The program will start with a group warm-up led by a Shape Up NYC instructor, followed by a walking workout appropriate for all levels and paces, and ending with a cool down and stretch. The group will meet at the entrance of Myrtle and St. Edwards Street. Instructor: Marsha // The group will not meet during inclement weather or when temperatures fall below 40 degrees; please dress for the weather. // For everyone’s safety they are asking participants and instructors to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing of 10 feet during class. NYRR Open Run | Brooklyn Bridge Park | Tuesdays from 6 to 7 pm

New York Road Runners invite you to join their free Tuesday night Open Runs! Whether you’re a first time runner, a seasoned marathoner, or you prefer to walk, you’re welcome along. No need to register in advance; sign-in takes place on site. Volunteers track your time, marshal the course, and provide bag check for anyone who might be coming from work. To participate, meet on the path south of Fornino at Pier 6 at 6:45pm on Tuesdays for registration. The run begins at 7:00pm and the course comprises a full 5K. NYRR Open Runs are open to all ages.
