Halloween Guide 2019 (all events are free)

Our annual Halloween guide for families in Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, Park Slope and BoCoCa features all free and spooky events in Brooklyn. Harvest Hang | Brooklyn Navy Yard | 10/12: Join the Brooklyn Navy Yard for a fun afternoon of pumpkin picking, face-painting, costume-making, and more! Yard-based businesses in the fields of costume design, fabrication, design, and entertainment will transform the BLDG 92 forecourt into a harvest takeover that is perfect for visitors of all ages! Delicious treats will be provided by local businesses, so come ready to have fun, create, and snack the afternoon away! Saturday October 12th from 12.30 to 3 pm. Free tickets here.

Harvest Festival | Brooklyn Bridge Park | 10/19: Haunted marsh, pumpkin patch, arts and crafts, face painting, music, and games await at this year’s Harvest Festival! Event will take place on Saturday, October 19th from 11 am to 2 pm at Pier 6.

Harvest Homecoming Festival | Brooklyn Botanic Garden | 10/20: Discover an old-school fall foliage festival in the heart of Brooklyn—complete with hay rides, lawn games, Brussels sprout bowling, and more! Kids will have a chance to debut their Halloween costumes in a children’s parade winding through the Garden. Event will take place on Sunday, October 20th from 11 am to 5 pm. Free for children under 12, everybody needs a ticket.

Carroll Park Halloween Party @ Carroll Gardens 10/26: The annual Carroll Park Halloween Party will take place from 12 to 2 pm on Saturday 10/26 with crafts, games and food.

Haunted Halloween Walk and Fair @ Prospect Park | 10/26: Halloween events @ Nethermead, 12–3 pm on Saturday 10/26. Deep in the Park lies Lookout Hill, the highest point in Prospect Park and home of the Prospect Park Alliance’s Annual Halloween Haunted Walk. Ghouls and goblins lurk behind the trees, ready to provide a silly scare! An adult should accompany young children, ideal for families with children ages 7-12. After some chills and thrills at the Haunted Walk, enjoy more Halloween fun at their fair. Rain or shine.

Bklyn Boo! @ Albee Square | 10/26: Come and haunt Albee Square in Downtown Brooklyn for some spooky fun, balloon ghouls, monster tunes, a photo booth and more on Saturday 10/26 starting at 2 pm.

BKLYN BOO! @ City Point Brooklyn | 10/26: Pumpkin patch, family costume contest, face painting, magician and more!  Plus, spooky sounds from DJ Mike. Don’t miss the 3rd Annual Halloween Kids Party at City Point in Downtown Brooklyn on Saturday, 10/26 from 2 to 5 pm.

Kids’ Halloween Parade & Trick-or-Treat @ Industry City | 10/26: Join Beyond and Industry City for the second annual Kids’ Halloween Parade + Trick-or-Treat Scavenger Hunt! Including fun activities like mural painting and a pumpkin patch. Beyond: Activities from 10AM – 4PM; Parade to Industry City at 11:30AM. Industry City: Activities from 12PM – 2PM; Parade to Beyond at 2:30PM. Find out more here.

Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest @ Fort Greene Park | 10/26: The 21st annual Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest will take place on Saturday, October 26 at 11:30 a.m. in Fort Greene Park. The contest will take place at the bottom of the monument stairs in Fort Greene Park. Judging will begin at 11:30 a.m. sharp. The rain date is Sunday, October 27.

Halloween Festival @ Fort Greene Park | 10/26: The annual Halloween Festival in Fort Greene Park features rides, face-painting, Halloween crafts, games, giveaways, live music, a pumpkin patch, train rides and more! Saturday, October 26th from  

Pumpkin Patch & Trick-or-Treating @ Governors Island | 10/26: Governors Island’s Nolan Park will transform with its third annual Pumpkin Point, a free, family-friendly patch of over 5,000 pumpkins on the last two weekends in October. On Saturday, October 26 starting at 1:00 pm free Trick-or-Treating in Nolan Park! Ferry service to Governors Island is available from Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Coney Island Children’s Halloween Parade @ Coney Island | 10/26: The party starts at 11 am with games, bounce houses, face painting, live music, parade and more on Saturday, 10/26 at MCU Park, 1904 Surf Avenue.

Halloween Parade @ Thomas Greene Playground Gowanus | 10/26: The annual Halloween parade with costume contest and pumpkin painting will take place on Saturday 10/26 from 2 to 4 pm at the Thomas Greene Playground on 3rd Ave and Douglass.

The Haunted Horse @ Brooklyn Equine in Prospect Park | 10/26: The Haunted Horse & Pony on Saturday 10/26/19 from 12 to 3 pm in Prospect Park – Center Drive; Horse and Rider in spooky costumes, Pony in spooky costume for photo booth.

Halloween Parade @ Pierrepont Playground | 10/23: Back sale, crafts and playground fun to follow the parade at the Pierrepont playground in Brooklyn Heights on Monday 10/28 starting at 3.30 pm.

Court Street Spectacular @ Atlantic Ave to Joralemon Street | 10/27: Court Street Spectacular Street Fair between Atlantic Ave and Joralemon Street on Sunday, October 27th from 11 am to 6 pm. Shopping, food and rides… Also, learn about Fire Safety with the FDNY team.

Costume Contest and Mini Parade @ Old Stone House | 10/27: Costume contest at 2pm, mini parade at 3:30pm at Old Stone House and JJ Bryne Playground in Park Slope. 10/27/2019 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Pumpkin Carving @ Brooklyn Roasting Company DUMBO 10/27: Come to Brooklyn Roasting Company on Jay Street in DUMBO on Sunday 10/27 from 12 to 4 pm for community pumpkin carving. Kids and grown-ups are invited to carve, free hot chocolate for all.

Garden Place Trick-or-Treating @ Brooklyn Heights | 10/31: Kids start trick-or-treating around 4 pm on Thursday, October 31st on Garden Place in Brooklyn Heights. The gathering runs all afternoon until dusk when everybody runs out of candy.

Strong Place Trick-or-Treating @ Cobble Hill | 10/31: Kids start trick-or-treating around 4 pm on Thursday, October 31st on Strong Place in Cobble Hill. The gathering runs all afternoon until dusk when everybody runs out of candy.

Halloween Parade @ Park Slope | 10/31: Annual Park Slope Civic Council Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31 kicking off from 14th Street and 7th Avenue at 6:30 pm. The parade will head north on 7th Avenue, turn left on 3rd Street and end in J.J. Byrne Playground at the Old Stone House. Also, hit the Old Stone House for activities throughout the afternoon.

The Haunted Hayride at Brooklyn Equine in Prospect Park | 10/31: Horse & Rider in spooky costumes on Halloween from 4 to 8 pm at Prospect Park – Center Drive.

Cobble Hill Halloween Parade @ Cobble Hill Park 10/31: The Annual Cobble Hill Halloween Parade takes place on Halloween (Thursday, October 31st) from 4 to 5 pm. Organized by the Cobble Hill Association, this hour-long parade starts in the park and follows musicians that lead a procession of costumed families down Congress to Henry, around to Warren Street and back to the park. Kids can stop at stoops for treats along the way and after in one of the most active Halloween communities in Brooklyn.

BAMBoo Halloween Celebration @ BAM 10/31: BAM’s annual free community Halloween celebration returns featuring music, carnival games, arts and crafts, stilt walkers, roaming artists, a costume contest, and a candy giveaway. Peter Jay Sharp Building at 30 Lafayette Avenue on Thursday, October 31st from 4 to 7 pm. Once it wraps up at 7pm, head 10 blocks east to Clinton Avenue to trick-or-treat door-to-door.

DUMBOween @ DUMBO | 10/31:  Annual March in the Arch and Trick-or-Treating in DUMBO on Thursday, 10/31 followed by crafts, live music and candy in the Archway!

  • 4:30 pm: Annual March in Archway under the Manhattan Bridge due to rain
  • 5 – 7 pm: Archway Kids party in the Archway Under The Manhattan Bridge
    Brass + puppets performance the Funkrust Brass Band. Hands-on arts & crafts with Creatively Wild Art Studio. Photobooth and lots and lots of candy!

-> Party in the Archway under the Manhattan Bridge is rain-proof

  • 4-7 pm: Trick-or-Treating DUMBO neighborhood wide! Grab your pumpkin bucket: the DUMBO BID sponsors storefront trick-or-treating for the little ones from 4-7pm. 40+ businesses will be giving out candy to costumed DUMBOnians. Look for the pumpkin sign in the window of participating businesses and stop by Time Out Market.

Halloween Bash @ Brooklyn Roasting Company DUMBO | 10/31: Come to Brooklyn Roasting Company on Jay Street in DUMBO on Thursday 10/31 from 7 to 10 pm for its annual Halloween Bash with free drinks.
