New Cultural & Arts Center coming to Downtown Brooklyn

The city’s Economic Development Corporation and Department of Cultural Affairs has broken ground on a new cultural center housed within the 32-story tower at 300 Ashland Place in Downtown Brooklyn that is also home to the Apple Store and Wholefoods 365. The new center will span across 50,000 square feet on two floors.

It will host a range of institutions, including arts gallery and performance spaces for the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, three cinemas for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, rehearsal studios and performance space for 651 ARTS, and a new branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.  The venue will be 651 ARTS’s first dedicated permanent space. The center is expected to open in Winter 2020/21.
