The Department of Sanitation will collect clean, non-bagged trees left on the curb weather permitting starting on Monday, January 4 through Friday, January 15, 2021. City residents should remove all tree stands, tinsel, lights and ornaments from trees before they are put out for collection. Trees will be chipped, mixed with leaves, and recycled into rich compost for the city’s parks, institutions, and community gardens. Those wishing to dispose of mostly plastic and metal Christmas trees should remove all ornaments and put them out next to their recycling on regular recycling days.

Drop you tree off at any of the following locations between December 26th and January 10th in Brooklyn Bridge Park.  Locations: Ample Hills Creamery @ Pier 1, OddFellows Ice Cream @ Pier 5and Fruit Street Sitting Area @ Squibb Park. Come watch trees be chipped and and to take home a bag of mulch. January 9 & 10 from 10am to 2pm at the Pier 2 Parking Lot.Trees with decorations will not be accepted.

On Saturday 1/2 and 1/9 bring your trees to Fort Greene Park from 10 am to 2 pm and they’ll give it back to you in a bag. Use the mulch to enrich your garden or give it to the park to enrich our local green space. Full details here.

On Saturday 1/2 and 1/9, bring your trees to Cobble Hill Park from 10 am to 2 pm to get chipped and they’ll give it back to you in a bag of mulch to use in your backyard or to make a winter bed for a street tree. Full details here.

On Saturday 1/2 and 1/9, bring your tree to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade at Columbia Heights and Cranberry Street from 10 am to 2 pm. No chipping, just drop-off.
