Sunday Social on car-free Montague Street 10/14

The Montague Street BID is hosting a family-friendly street fair on Montague Street from Court Street to the Promenade on Sunday, October 14th from 11 am to 6 pm – rain or shine.

The highlight of Sunday Social will be the Brooklyn Bridge Parents Kids’ Zone with more than 25 free activities and entertainment for children from 0 to 10 years old. The 3 ½ block zone will feature family-friendly activities including a ninja obstacle course, robot making, bird house making, science and art activities, soccer, weaving, an outdoor block play area, photo booth, life size chess, a bouncy house, crafts, and more.

Paprika Marching Band will entertain guests from 12-2pm, followed by a wheelchair dance performance by ZCO at 2pm. The Brooklyn Music School will host interactive bucket drumming at 3 pm and The Brooklyn Diamonds, P.S. 307’s award winning cheer troupe will round out the day at 4 pm.

Special reading of AUNT LILLY’S LAUNDROMAT by author MELANIE HOPE GREENBERG at 11.30 am for ages 5 to 7. As a young woman searching for work, Aunt Lilly immigrated to the U.S. from Haiti, and since that time she has lived in Brooklyn. Now, years later, she runs a neighborhood Laundromat on Montague Street, working hard to earn her living.
