An update on the new public middle school coming to Pacific Park

New York Yimby has an update on the construction of the mixed-use building at 664 Pacific in Prospect Heights which states that construction has started. The 343,788-square-foot, mixed-use building will rise 26 stories and bring 323 rental units to the neighborhood. The property sits at the corner of Dean Street and Sixth Avenue and is directly to the east of Barclays Center and is part of Pacific Park. It will also be home to a District 13 new middle school which might be called M.S. One Brooklyn. The 616-seat public middle school that will span the first five floors and two below-grade levels is now scheduled to open in September 2022 which means current 2nd Graders would be the first students at the school. No details on the programming of the middle school have been published by the Department of Education, however, there have been parenting initiatives to launch a dual language program as well as a STEM curriculum at the school. Stay tuned!
