The Noel Pointer Foundation The Noel Pointer Foundation

The Noel Pointer Foundation is a non-profit organization launched 30 years ago in 1995 to honor the memory of Grammy-nominated jazz violinist Noel Pointer, a platinum-selling artist who loved performing in inner city communities and believed strongly that teaching a child a string instrument had the potential to change the entire trajectory of their life. Starting with 18 children at PS 44 in Brooklyn, NPF now operates music programs in close to 50 schools and daycare centers, having served over 35,000 students in all five boroughs. The on-campus NPF Preparatory Program offers an Ensemble Program, a Solo Program, and Music Enrichment Electives from September through May with programming for ages 9 months to adults. The Summer Music Intensive is a 5-week program (June-July) designed for young string players (ages 3–18) to refine skills through group lessons, ensemble training, and performances. Included in the weekly schedule are cultural workshops and field trips on Fridays. Based in Brooklyn, NY, this intensive program fosters musical friendships and provides comprehensive training in classical, jazz, and modern styles, culminating in a showcase for family and friends at the end of the program.
