Brooklyn Prospect hopes to open a new, tuition-free elementary school for D15 residents. With a proposed opening date of Fall 2020, the school plans to start out with 50 Kindergarten students (2 classes) and grow a grade each year.
Serving the Brooklyn community for nearly ten years, Brooklyn Prospect Charter School has one elementary school in District 13, two middle schools – one in District 13 and one in District 15 – and one high school in District 15. Its academics are modeled on the International Baccalaureate program. The school admits students by lottery and sets aside 45% of seats to low-income families and English Language Learners.
Brooklyn Prospect plans to create a diverse elementary school in District 15, offset overcrowding at public elementary schools and plans to open the school in a private building so the school does not take space away from other neighborhood public schools. No information on the location of the school within the district is available yet.
