Finding child care, daycares and preschools in the city just got significantly easier. The Mayor’s Office has officially launched the NYC Child Care Hub, a first-of-its-kind centralized directory featuring over 10,000 child care programs across all five boroughs. The database brings together free 3-K and UPK 4 programs, city-licensed daycares, and state-overseen home-based daycares. It also displays fee-based preschools and daycares as well as private schools with programs for 2-4 year olds.
Key features of the new portal:
-
Custom filters: Type in your address to find walkable/transit-friendly options, and filter by your child’s exact age and the specific days or times you need coverage.
-
See details like costs and 3K & 4K availabilty
Note:
- Some names of centers are not 100% matching the brand name of the centers i.e. “CHABAD LUBAVITCH OF BROOKLYN HEIGHTS” aka Kiddie Korner and some closed preschools are listed
Timing for 2-K: This launch is specifically timed to help families navigate the 2,000 new free 2-K seats opening up this fall. Since many of those new seats will be located within existing home-based provider networks, the map will be crucial for finding a spot in your neighborhood.
