Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park is now open

Adding over 3.5 acres of open space, Pier 6 brings Brooklyn Bridge Park to 75% completion. With its winding paths, lush plantings and undulating lawns, Pier 6 provides a pastoral contrast to the Park’s active recreation areas.

Lawns in the new section will provide areas for programming that is easily accessible for communities to the south.

The Pier 6 ferry landing that will provide citywide service starting in 2017 will connect South Brooklyn with Manhattan’s Sea Port. It will have stops in Bay Ridge, at Brooklyn Army Terminal, in Red Hook, at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Piers 6 and 1 and Wall Street. A trip from Pier 6 to Wall Street is estimated to be 14 minutes. The $2.75 fare will be the same as the MTA’s fare, but it will not be linked to the MetroCard. There will be a total of 3 ferry slips at Pier 6. To reduce impact on parkland, the canopies, passenger shelter and fare machines will be situated on barges.
