LIU Paramount Theatre in Downtown Brooklyn to open in 2020

The historic Brooklyn Paramount Theatre at Long Island University located at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues is preparing to undergo a 24-month renovation after a groundbreaking ceremony last week.

The Brooklyn Paramount opened its doors in 1928 as an ornate movie palace, one of the first to show talking pictures. The venue later introduced rock and roll and jazz to the borough. Currently used as a multi-purpose space, much of its original luster and Rococo-style architectural details have been preserved.

Once open, LIU Paramount Theatre will host up to 120 annual events, including music, comedy, boxing, and family-friendly events. The venue will have a flexible seating with a capacity of up to 3,500.
