al Badawi | Al Badawi is a Palestinian restaurant offering large, shareable platters served with warm house-made pita. High chairs are available in their large dining room or in their outdoor seating area on Atlantic Avenue.

Brado | A relaxed, neighborhood restaurant with spacious booths, Brado welcomes families for ultra-thin crust pizza, along with pastas, specialty sandwiches, salads and desserts, plus a carefully curated beer and wine list.

Brooklyn BBQ | Located on Cadman Plaza, Brooklyn BBQ has a classic barbeque menu, as well as wings, paninis, cocktails, beer & wine, plus a kid’s meal for $8. Great place to watch sports with the whole family!

Chama Mama | This Georgian restaurant on Montague Street is open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Try the Georgian dumplings, called Khinkali, plus lots of shareable dishes for the whole family.

Clark’s Diner | On Clark Street since 1986, Clark’s Diner serves Greek & American comfort food in a casual, neighborhood diner that buzzes at breakfast. They offer a large variety of breakfast options, daily soups, pastas, and much more.

Colonie | Colonie is on a tree-lined block of Atlantic Avenue, two blocks from the East River. They serve seasonal American food sourced from local farms. High chairs are available, and children are welcome! Outdoor seating on Atlantic Avenue in the warmer months. 

Dellarocco’s Brick Oven Pizza | Bring the family for wood fired pizza, cheese and charcuterie, and calzones. Located on Hick Street, Dellarocco’s has plenty of space indoors and outdoors as well.

Felice | Felice on Montague Street serves Tuscan food and has extensive, Italian-driven wine list. Cozy up in one of their booths for prix-fixe lunch, brunch, or dinner.

Grand Canyon Restaurant | Grand Canyon Restaurant on Montague Street serves diner-style family-friendly menus, including Mexican breakfast, burgers and sandwiches, egg dishes, plus a kid’s menu.

Jules | This new pizzeria at 50 Henry Street serves salads, pizzas with seasonal toppings, dessert, plus cocktails, wine and beer. Open 5-10pm on weekdays, until 11pm on weekends, and until 9pm on Sundays.

Montague Diner | Located in the old Happy Days space, this revamped diner on Montague Street offers American classics for breakfast, lunch, and dinner: omelettes, latkes, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, plus brunch staples. Already a neighborhood favorite, they welcome families and provide high chairs. Hours are Sunday through Wednesday 8am to 10pm, and Thursday through Saturday 8am to 11pm. They also have an after-school special for kids on weekdays from 3-5pm: cheese fries or grilled cheese for $5, kids only!

Noodle Pudding | A neighborhood establishment, Noodle Pudding serves Italian comfort food and welcomes diners of all ages for dinner. Come early for dinner with little ones. High chairs and crayons available! Cash only and no reservations are accepted.

Park Plaza | Located at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge and across from Cadman Plaza, this family owned and operated restaurant offers American diner fare and barbecue specialties. Park Plaza serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

River Deli | River Deli serves Sardinian brunch and dinner on a quiet corner of Joralemon Street. Their menu features a recipes passed down from the owners’ grandmothers, as well as a selection of classic cocktails. High chairs are available for kids. Cash only!

Vineapple Cafe | Nestled on Pineapple Street in Brooklyn Heights, Vineapple has been a beloved neighborhood fixture for years. They are open all day, serving coffee & pastries, breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner in their backyard garden, sidewalk café, or dining room. High chairs available!

Yemen Café | Yemen Café was the first Yemeni restaurant in the United States when it opened its doors in 1986. They serve authentic Yemeni food and are known for cultural and a warm, casual atmosphere. Dine indoors or eat in their outdoor pavilion. Don’t miss out on their most popular dish, Lamb Haneeth (slow-roasted lamb).

Carroll Gardens

Abilene | Abilene on Court Street is a casual bar and restaurant that serves weekend brunch including chicken & waffles, French toast and breakfast burritos. Outdoor seating available with heaters or fans, based on the weather.

Aromi | Aromi serves homemade pasta, pizza, focaccia, and cocktails. The restaurant has a beautiful wood oven, a cozy indoor dining room, and a large covered back yard.

Brooklyn Farmacy | Located in a 1920s apothecary in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain serves milkshakes, sundaes, sandwiches, pastries, and homemade sodas. Plus, coffee, wine, and beer for parents. Don’t miss the display of vintage wind-up toys!

Cafe Spaghetti | With a welcoming backyard garden that is open year-round with a decorative Vespa, Cafe Spaghetti is a favorite among families. The cozy Italian restaurant accepts both reservations and walk-in guests. Try the spaghetti pomodoro, eggplant parmigiana, cacio e pepe rice balls, and tiramisu.

East One | East One coffee shop on Court Street offers all-day breakfast, grain bowls and sandwiches for adults, plus a kid’s menu with avocado toast, pancakes, and mac & cheese. It’s a great spot for breakfast and brunch!

Enoteca on Court | Enoteca’s brick oven does double duty, not only turning out brick oven pizza but also serving up other menu items with a distinctive brick oven flavor. The restaurant also serves cheese and charcuterie, pasta, paninis, and calzones. A neighborhood restaurant, Enoteca welcomes children and has high chairs.

Frankies Sputino | Frankies 457 Spuntino serves classic Italian-American food in their cozy dining room and beautiful garden. The menu includes house-made pastas, tasting plates, and their famous meatballs.

Kittery | Kittery is inspired by the coastal town in Maine, and serves fresh seafood sourced from the coast of Maine to the Gulf of Mexico. “Jr Meals” include fish & chips, penne pasta, a burger and more options for young customers. Come for dinner or weekend breakfast.

Le Petit Cafe | Casual, cash-only French cafe on Court Street with an open kitchen and an atmospheric back garden.

Luana’s Tavern | Luana’s Tavern is a local family-owned tavern founded by a husband & wife team who met at the tavern 14 years ago when it was a bar called PJ Hanleys. They decided to name their restaurant after their oldest daughter, Luana. Visit for brunch or dinner and enjoy the outdoor patio seasonally, with live music, watch parties, and more special events.

Cobble Hill

Café Luluc | Café Luluc is a casual, neighborhood French eatery with garden seating that is heated in the colder months. The restaurant welcomes diners young and old! Open daily from 9am to 10pm. Cash only.

Gersi | Gersi opens daily at 4pm for dinner on weekdays and 10am on weekends for brunch and dinner service. Enjoy Northern Italian food and homemade pasta in their enclosed heated garden in the winter, which is covered and cool in the spring and summer. Children are welcome!

Lobo | Lobo serves Tex-Mex standards and margaritas. The kid’s menu includes burgers, quesadillas, and chicken fingers. Outdoor seating available. Cash only!

MooBurger | Burgers, hot dogs, and shakes at this casual spot! Kids menu includes chicken fingers, sliders, hot dogs, and grilled cheese.

Ruta Oaxaca | Smith Street has a new Mexican restaurant with a beautiful back garden. Come for Taco Tuesday, or for tacos any day! Ruta Oaxaca also has plenty of margaritas to choose from.

two8two Bar & Burger | Indulge in a burger from two8two, which sources their meat daily from local butcher Los Paisanos. two8two also serves hot dogs, crafts cocktails, and craft beer. The restaurant is kid-friendly with a lovely outdoor patio.

Downtown Brooklyn & Boerum Hill

DeKalb Market Hall | Brooklyn’s largest food hall is located in the basement of City Point in Downtown Brooklyn. Pick up crêpes for breakfast, grab noodles for lunch, or takeout dumplings for dinner. DeKalb has over 35 places to eat or drink and is open until 10pm daily. Sixpoint Brewery, also located on this level, is also a family-friendly spot to hang out with beers and snacks. Pair your visit to DeKalb with one of City Point’s special events for the whole family. In addition to special events, there are free children’s activities in front of Osteria & Showroom Bakehouse every Saturday and Sunday from 10am-12pm, from balloon twisting to magic shows to face painting!

French Louie | French Louie on Atlantic Avenue has a great kids menu that will keep the kids happy while adults enjoy thoughtfully prepared dishes. Don’t miss the fantastic back patio!

Junior’s | This landmark Brooklyn diner, famous for its cheesecakes, is located on “Cheesecake Corner” at the Flatbush Avenue Extension and Dekalb. Established in 1950, Junior’s has a family-friendly atmosphere and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In addition to their extensive cheesecake menu, they also serve deli sandwiches, matzo ball soup, reubens, BBQ pork ribs, Philly cheesesteaks, and more.

Piccola Cucina Casa | This Sicilian restaurant on Nevins Street offers a seasonal menu that showcases Italian culinary diversity: from grilled octopus from Puglia to schnitzel Milanese from Lombardy. The restaurant’s atmosphere blends rustic Italian charm with a welcoming Brooklyn vibe, with both indoor and outdoor seating.

DUMBO

AlMar | Located on Front Street in the heart of DUMBO, AlMar warmly welcomes local families to enjoy Italian fare in a cozy setting. The kitchen consistently offers a substantial specials menu sourced with the finest local and imported Italian ingredients. Come for brunch, lunch, or dinner. 

Gran Eléctrica | This Mexican spot on the corner of Old Fulton and Front Street has a charming back garden directly beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Come for brunch or early dinner with the kids. Kids will receive crayons and house designed coloring pages. In the warmer months, the restaurant hosts baby and toddler play dates on weekend mornings.

Juliana’s Pizza | Juliana’s, located in the space previously occupied by Grimaldi’s (which has since moved next door) makes delicious coal-fired pizzas. In 2015, TripAdvisor named Juliana’s the best pizzeria in America! Try the fennel sausage pizza and the onion pizza.

Randolph Beer | Randolph Beer is a great place to bring the family on Sundays, when kids are welcome all day long. Families are also welcome weekdays until 6pm and Saturdays until 2pm. The brewpub serves shareable snacks, bowls, sandwiches, and a brunch menu, and pour-your-own beer for adults! Play arcade games, pinball, and skee-ball, and try out feather bowling (book a lane here). In the summer months, Randolph opens their rooftop, which has stunning views of Brooklyn and the Manhattan skyline.

Seamore’s | With chill vibes, great hospitality, and seafood shack bites, Seamore’s brings Montauk to the Water Street sidewalk. They take walk-ins and reservations for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, and even offer a Kid’s Menu with mac and cheese, fish sticks, pasta, and a burger.

Superfine | Local, seasonal Mediterranean and American fare is offered in a converted warehouse space with an open kitchen. Sunday brunch includes live music.

Westville Dumbo | Fresh produce & locally sourced meats lead the list of ingredients at this popular American spot. Customers can eat in their shaded outdoor courtyard when the weather allows.

Fort Greene & Clinton Hill

Aita | Aita is a homey Italian restaurant in Clinton Hill. They have seating indoors and outdoors, and serve in their heated Outdoor Gazebo all year-round. The restaurant is kid-friendly, with both high chairs and booster seats. Outdoor tables also safely support clip-on high chairs if families prefer to bring their own.

Castro’s | This well-established Mexican restaurant on the border of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill serves authentic dishes in a family-friendly atmosphere. In addition to fajitas, burritos, and chile con queso, they also serve fresh-squeezed juices and drinks for grown-ups.

Deniz | This family-friendly spot serves Turkish cuisine in the heart of Fort Greene.

Dino | Dino serves Northern Italian food and is open for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Try their large front patio or back garden. High chairs available for little ones!

Doza Royale | This restaurant on the border of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill serves delicious South Indian food. It’s a great vegetarian and vegan option!

DSK Brooklyn | DSK is a welcoming German beer garden with pretzels, sausages, and more pub fare. All are welcome, including children, and there is both indoor and outdoor seating and bar games.

Evelina | Evelina is an upscale bistro in Fort Greene. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, Evelina serves Italian and Mediterranean fare. High chairs available, and seating both indoors and outdoors.

Fat Rabbit | This stylish diner and bar serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner in cozy booths. Open 10am to 11pm daily.

Graziella’s | This Italian restaurant with wood-fired pizza is as great option for families with strollers and larger parties. Open daily from 11am-11pm on Vanderbilt Avenue, they have both an outdoor patio and rooftop dining.

Habana Outpost | This casual outdoor spot serving Mexican-Cuban fare usually closes for the winter, but announced that they have decided to stay open all year round, starting in Winter 2024-25. In the warmer months, they run an outdoor movie program every Sunday night.

Mekong | Mekong serves delicious and fresh Vietnamese food on the border of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. High chairs available!

Peaches Prime | Gotham Market at The Ashland | From the owners of Peaches HotHouse, Peaches Prime is a modern neighborhood brasserie showcasing a contemporary take on New York City culinary classics. Located at Gotham Market at The Ashalnd, visit for dinner or weekend brunch.

Putnam’s Pub | This Clinton Hill pub is family-friendly, with room for stroller parking. They have seating indoors and outdoors and serve elevated pub fare for brunch, lunch and dinner.

Speedy Romeo | A great spot for families, Speedy Romeo serves wood-fired pizzas and Italian cuisine in a former body shop in Clinton Hill.

Tacombi | This Mexican restaurant on Lafayette has a great ambiance and delicious food. Come for tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and agua frescas, and more!

Park Slope & Gowanus

Baba’s Pierogies | This casual spot on Third Avenue offers the ultimate kid-friendly, hand-held food: pierogies!  High chairs available. Try the mac and cheese pierogies!

Bogota Latin Bistro | This Park Slope restaurant serving Latin and Columbian cuisine offers an extensive kids menu from 11am-4pm daily including kids appetizer, entrees and side dishes. Kids also eat free Monday through Thursday 4pm-7pm with a purchase of an entree or house specialty! There is both indoor dining and an outdoor patio.

Bricolage | Bricolage serves Vietnamese family and street food in a space that is hand-built with recycled vintage materials.  The restaurant has a beautiful back patio.

Chela | This colorful Mexican restaurant serves tacos, enchiladas, and other favorite Mexican dishes. During the holiday season, check out their popular Santa Brunch on weekends in December. There is a special kids menu, a chance to take photos with Santa, and margaritas for parents!

Crosta Pizzeria | This pizzeria is very family-friendly, and serves up delicious pies! They also serve burgers and gelato.

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que | Located in the heart of Gowanus, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que warmly welcomes everyone (including dogs!) and has outdoor seating areas. The restaurant serves Southern-style meat and draft beers.

Dram Shop | This neighborhood sports bar and family-friendly restaurant has a kid’s menu, and kids even eat free on Saturdays from 11:30am to 4pm!

Giovanni’s Brooklyn Eats | This Italian restaurant in Park Slope was closed for a year, but recently reopened in a new location across from the original space. The family-run eatery makes classic Italian dishes from family recipes, and has a warm atmosphere with live jazz 3-4 times a week.

Grand Army @ Threes Brewing | The Boerum Hill oyster bar Grand Army has set up shop at Threes Brewing in Gowanus. They serving beer-battered cod, burgers, loaded crab fries, and event a Happy Meals for kids!

Harlem Shake | An outpost of the Harlem burger joint, this diner with 1940s decor serves burgers, hot dogs, and of course, shakes.

Insa | Insa offers Korean BBQ and karaoke, a great night out for families. You can either enjoy sharable banchan, barbecue, and more in their large dining room, or eat in one fo their karaoke studios. Half-price karaoke rooms every Wednesday!

Miti Miti | Serving Mexican and Latin American fare, Miti Miti’s signature dishes include their tacos, BBQ chicken nachos, and chicken mole enchiladas. The restaurant is colorful and has both indoor and outdoor seating on 5th Avenue, good for large groups!

Pasta Louise | Pasta Louise was founded by Allison Arevalo, who sold fresh pasta from her stoop during the pandemic before her restaurant was finally able to open its doors in July 2020. The restaurant on 12th Street serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is nearby the café on 8th Street, where you can pick up pasta, sauce, coffee, and soft serve ice cream to go.

Miriam | This beloved Park Slope spot of almost two decades serves Israeli food. The menu is seasonal, and many ingredients come straight from Israel. Miriam serves brunch every day, plus dinner seven days a week, starting at 4pm.

Prospect Heights & Crown Heights 

Alta Calidad | This restaurant on Vanderbilt Avenue serves Mexican cuisine welcomes kids and offers high chairs. There is outdoor seating, and they serve weekend brunch, lunch, and dinner.

Amorina | This Roman-style pizzeria making sourdough crusts is located on Vanderbilt. The kid’s menu includes a kid’s size Margherita pizza, spaghetti, and a cheese calzone.

Briscola Trattoria | Briscola Trattoria itself as a “modern Italian trattoria with a retro heart. The chef, Silvia Barban, competed on Top Chef and also owns Larina, another Italian spot in Fort Greene.

Cent’anni | This Italian spot has a kid’s menu in addition to delicious entrees and pastas for adults. Their backyard garden patio has a retractable roof so diners can eat outside rain or shine.

Dilly Dally | This new neighborhood restaurant is open Wednesdays through Sundays for dinner, as well as Saturdays and Sundays for brunch. Main dishes include a barley grain bowl, ravioli squash with brown butter and sage, seared trout, and skirt steak. Cozy and laid back, this is a great spot for families.

Faun | Faun is a stylish eatery with an Italian-American menu based on local ingredients, plus a leafy back patio that is heated in the colder months. High chairs available for kids! Come for an early dinner or weekend brunch.

Gertrude’s | This neighborhood spot is a sister restaurant to Gertie in Williamsburg, and also offers “Jew-ish” fare. They serve dinner and brunch in a cozy atmosphere and even offer stroller parking.

Nin Hao | This quirky new Fujianese restaurant is located on Dean Street. It’s a great spot for large groups, and they even have remote-controlled submarines in a fish tank for kids!

Pasta Night | This new pasta spot comes from the team behind Ciao, Gloria, a bakery across the street on Vanderbilt Avenue. The restaurant is calling itself “fine-casual,” where you order food at the counter. In addition to classic pasta dishes, Pasta Night serves appetizers, Italian pastries and desserts, cocktails, Italian beers and wines, low ABV cocktails, and mocktails.

Patti Ann’s | Patti Ann’s is a family-friendly neighborhood restaurant with a menu inspired by Midwestern comfort food. Come for all-day breakfast, lunch, brunch, or dinner all day! Patti Ann’s Bakery, located inside the restaurant, makes delicious maple crullers, sourdough, and more pastries and breads.

Stocked Cafe | Stocked is a family-owned cafe on Washington Avenue that is a favorite among families. They serve burgers, soups, sandwiches, and baked goods.

Tom’s Restaurant | This diner has been on the corner of Washington Avenue in Prospect Heights since 1936. They are famous for pancakes, and serve breakfast and lunch fare 7 days per week.

Underhill Cafe | This welcoming Greek bistro has outdoor seating seasonally, and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

Zaytoons | This family-owned Middle Eastern restaurant is celebrating their 25th anniversary. They have a lovely back garden in the warmer months. They also have special menu items for kids, such as Pitza Lal Atfal, with mozzarella & tomato sauce with a happy face of veggies.

Red Hook & Columbia St. Waterfront

Brooklyn Crab | Brooklyn Crab offers great seafood, drinks, & games. It’s the perfect place to bring the family, especially on a warm day when you can enjoy the roof deck, spacious patio with mini golf and games, and views New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.

The Good Fork Pub | The Good Fork is a neighborhood restaurant that feels like home, and the husband-and-wife owners live just down the block! Chef and co-owner Sohui Kim cooks new American cuisine with an Asian flair, and her husband Benjamin Schneider designed and built the restaurant’s interior. Enjoy their innovative Korean-inspired pub menu and drinks in the dining room behind the main bar, or in the cozy back garden. High chairs available.

Hometown BBQ | Hometown BBQ serves Brooklyn style barbecue in their large open-seating space in Red Hook. Order easy-to-share pit-smoked meats and sides for the whole family. No reservations accepted; expect a lively line on the weekends.

Jalopy Tavern | Jalopy Tavern is a restaurant with live music attached to the Jalopy Theatre and School of Music. Jalopy is very family-friendly and serves pub food including tacos, burgers, and sandwiches, as well as weekend brunch.

Mex Carroll’s Diner | Mexican & American fare is served at this casual diner for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The kid’s menu includes pancakes, burgers, macaroni and cheese, and more.

Sunset Park

Industry City | Industry City has so many food and drink options across their campus, from Hometown Bar-B-Que to Japan Village’s food hall to tacos, ice cream, pizza, and more! After your meal, play in one of the courtyards (check out the sand pit or the ice rink, depending on the time of year!) or attend a family-friendly event!

Williamsburg

Cafe Mogador | Cafe Mogador has served NYC since 1983, with its original location in Manhattan’s East Village.  They serve Moroccan tagines, couscous, and more for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch.

Gertie | Known for being family-friendly, Gertie calls itself a modern “Jew-ish” diner, serving bagel sandwiches, deli classics, salads, babka, and more.

Mother’s | This neighborhood spot serves burgers, craft beers for grown-ups, and has outdoor seating. Open 7 days a week on Graham Avenue.

Sage | This Thai restaurant on Graham Avenue has a kid’s menu, plus a spacious backyard and tuk tuks for kids to play on. On Fridays, they have a rotating specials menu, and they serve weekend brunch.

Tacocina | Located in Domino Park, this taqueria is a picturesque outdoor space overlooking the East River and adjacent to the Domino Park playground. Come for tacos, quesadillas, margaritas, and more. It’s great spot for kids to eat and play!

Veselka | The East Village Ukranian diner recently opened their newest location in Williamsburg. Come for the classic Veselka favorites: beef stroganoff, Ukrainian meatballs, stuffed cabbage, schnitzel, and borscht. Both indoor and outdoor dining available.

Greenpoint

Bernie’s | Located on Driggs Avenue, Bernie’s serves American comfort food on red-checkered tablecloths.

Cafe Alula | Cafe Alula is Lebanese cafe with outdoor seating in the front and back. Open every day from 8am-6pm.

Karczma | One of the most famous and popular Polish restaurants in Greenpoint, Karczma is home to authentic handmade Polish Pierogi.

Naked Dog | This Italian spot in located near the waterfront park and playground. The menu features top notch bruschetta, spaghetti, pappardelle with beef Bolognese’s, and bombolini for dessert. Naked Dog has both indoor and outdoor seating.

Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop | Paulie Gee’s is a great family-friendly pizza spot on Franklin Street.

Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop | A 60-year-old donut shop on Manhattan Avenue, Peter Pan is a family-owned business that is famous for its handmade donuts. Cash only!

Three Decker Diner | Located at the corner of Norman Street and Manhattan Avenue, Three Decker Diner first opened in 1945 and recently was revamped. Try comfort food items like chicken pot pie, chicken fried steak, burger, sandwiches, plus Tex-Mex dishes like huevos rancheros, carnitas tacos, and a chorizo Tora. Kids will love their banana split!

Restaurants with Multiple Locations

Bar Bruno | Carroll Gardens & Greenpoint | Bar Bruno serves Mexican food with a touch of New York bistro classics: a great burger and fries or a delicious pan-fried chicken. Enjoy a fish taco with a cold michelada or a hibiscus margarita on their sidewalk café. Open for brunch, lunch, and dinner.

Black Forest | Boerum Hill & Fort Greene | Black Forest Brooklyn is a German restaurant & beer garden with a warm and casual vibe, serving regional specialties and a unique selection of German draft beer. Black Forest has two locations: one on Fulton Street in Fort Greene, and one on Smith Street in Boerum Hill, featuring a large backyard.
