Free kid-friendly events in Brooklyn week 7/10 – 7/16

An eventful week is coming up in Brooklyn with Wimbledon public viewing, a Jazz festival, Balloontopia summer edition, a puppet slam, outdoor movies for families, a Chuck E. Cheese summer concert and much more free fun.

Music in the Park concert series | Cobble Hill Park | Tuesday 7/11

The CHA is hosting three free community concerts in Cobble Hill Park over the summer.  The first one is on Tuesday, July 11th from 6 to 7 pm.

Music in the Groove | Fort Greene Park | Wednesday 7/12

Have fun at our summer concert series for all ages! Music In The Grove is an upbeat musical concert that brings parents and children of all ages together with live and in-person music! Bring a blanket and enjoy the music. Performances are free and open to children of all ages and caretakers. Wednesday from 10 am to 11 am.

Puppet Slam | Brooklyn Commons Park | Thursday 7/13

Puppets Come Home! is the resident puppet series at Coney Island USA in South Brooklyn. In addition to celebrating Brooklyn’s puppet legacy, the series is designed to provide a platform for contemporary cutting-edge puppeteers. Get ready for a family-friendly puppet slam, featuring an inclusive line-up of marionettes, hand puppets, giant puppets and more! This Thursday from 12 to 2 pm at Brooklyn Commons Park in Downtown Brooklyn.

Storytime in the Park | Fort Greene Park | Thursday 7/13

Sing, read, and play with librarians from Brooklyn Public Library this Summer! Have fun hearing great picture books read aloud and playing with other children every Thursday at Fort Greene Park, from June – August from 4 to 4.45 pm.

Clinton Hill: Fab Flicks | Clinton Hill | Thursday 7/13

Turning Red, Thursday, July 13th, 7:30 pm  –  10:00 pm, Jitu Weusi Plaza Brooklyn. A thirteen-year-old girl is torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the changes of adolescence. And as if the challenges were not enough, whenever she gets overly excited she transforms into a giant red panda. Find out more here.

Paramount+ Movie Nights in Brooklyn | Fort Greene Park | Thursday 7/13

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on Thursday, July 13th 6:00-10:00pm, Fort Greene Park South Portland Avenue Brooklyn. Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. Balloontopia Beach | City Point | 7/14 – 7/16

Balloontopia: Surf’s Poppin in DWTN BKLYN! Balloon Bubble House, Balloon Sea & Beach World, Balloon Beach Games, Gigantic Balloon Octopus and #SELFIEMOMENTS happening at City Point from Friday, July 14 to Sunday, July 16. BALLOONTOPIA is New York City’s first Balloon Pop-Up Experience! Brooklyn Bridge Parents and City Point have partnered up to bring back the summer edition of this playground of ginormous balloon art & immersive balloon experiences. Wimbledon: The Hill in New York | Pier 6 | 7/14-7/16

For three days, Wimbledon’s iconic fan destination, the Hill, is returning to Brooklyn Bridge Park! Watch the finals live with an authentic Championships experience! Free with RSVP.

Chuck E. Cheese Summer Concert Road Show Live! In Brooklyn | Atlantic Terminal Mall Plaza | Saturday 7/15

Chuck E. Cheese and his friends Helen Henny, Jasper T. Jowls, Mr. Munch and Bella B. in her first ever live appearance will be performing live as part of a free concert and celebration at the plaza of Atlantic Terminal Mall Plaza on Saturday, July 15 from 10 am to 12 pm. RSVP here. The free concert will feature new summer time music that will be loved by kids and families. The concert will include new dances, songs and even the Happy Birthday song to celebrate any little ones with upcoming birthdays. After the concert, families can take pictures with all the characters and then head over to Chuck E. Cheese to check out the brand new trampoline zone, and get a new Summer Fun Pass which starts at $59.99 and offers 8 weeks of All You Can Play game play and is a great place to bring the family all summer long! Kids Summer Bash | Seaport | Saturday 7/15

Come to The Seaport for an afternoon of unleashed creativity and interactive fun. Once again, The Seaport is partnering with local family event curators Mommy Poppins & Brooklyn Bridge Parents to bring neighborhood kids a Summer Bash like no other. Join in for pop-up play with recycled materials, STEM projects, plus crafts, face gems and temporary tattoos, block building, and more. Saturday 7/15 from 3 to 5 pm. RSVP here.

Maternal Health Expo | Borough Hall | Saturday 7/15

Maternal Health Expo on Saturday, July 15, from 1 to 4 PM at Brooklyn Borough Hall for a day filled of activities aimed at supporting your pregnancy journey. Planned by the Borough President, his Maternal Health Taskforce and supported by the NYC Health Department, NYC Health + Hospitals, Caribbean Women’s Health Association, and Assembly Member Brian Cunningham, the day’s activities will include free workshops like ‘Know Your Rights’ on topics like paid leave and health insurance, prenatal nutrition, and safe sleep and breastfeeding. Jazz Festival | Fort Greene Park | Saturday 7/15

The Jazz Festival provides live jazz entertainment for families and neighborhoods each year. Saturday, July 15 from 3 to 7 pm in Fort Greene Park.

Waterfront Dance Socials | Brooklyn Bridge Park | Saturday 7/15

Expert instructors and local dance legends teach you how to move, highlighting distinct dance styles that have important roots here in NYC. Get moving with free all-levels dance classes under the Brooklyn Bridge at Emily Warren Roebling Plaza on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm!

DUMBO Family Games | Washington Street DUMBO | Sundays starting 7/16 – Cancelled due to rain

Enjoy our epic Lego table, plus building blocks, arts & crafts, Corn hole, Connect Four, arts & crafts, balloon twisting by Leaf Medical & Dental and more on car-free Washington Street on Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm (weather permitting). Curated by the DUMBO BID x Brooklyn Bridge Parents and supported by Leaf Medical & Dental in DUMBO. No need to RSVP, just show up.

Basketball clinics | Pier 2 | Tuesdays

Recommended for ages 7-17, join Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy for 2 hour basketball clinics led by KING Hoops. Learn basketball basics as head coaches lead participants through drills and games. Clinics run on Tuesdays from May 30 through July 25 at Pier 2. Clinics for ages 7 to 12 will be from 4 to 5 pm, while clinics for ages 13 to 17 will be from 5 to 6 pm. Advanced registration and waivers are required, although walk-up registrations can be accommodated as space allows. Registration will open at this link every Tuesday at 10 am for class the following week.

Kayaking | Pier 4 | Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays

Free family-friendly kayaking is offered throughout the summer on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons through September in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Find out more here.

Open Streets | Montague Street | Saturdays

Tip toe through Montague Street Blooms, a 6-foot flower pop up park, and enjoy the magical public space, practice and learn to score goals, dribble, and zigzag from the pros at Super Soccer Stars, use your imagination to play with New York Society of Play. After you’ve worked up an appetite, visit Mad for Chicken, 80 Montague Street, where kids eat free from 12-5pm.

Storytime | Barnes and Noble in Cobble Hill | Saturdays

Weekly story time on Saturdays at 11 am for kids ages 2 to 8 is back at the new Barnes & Noble location on Atlantic Avenue in Cobble Hill.
