The annual English Language Arts and Math Standardized State Test results for students in Grades 3 to 8 in public schools are out! Percentages are the numbers of students who met or exceeded expectations on the state assessments at each school. In New York City public schools, math scores in grades 3-8 increased 3.5 points, 57% of students met/exceeded the standards. English Language Arts scores increased 7 points in grades 3-8, 56% of students met/exceeded the standards. The majority of schools in our neighborhoods improved on the ELA test from 2024 to 2025.
PS 8 in Brooklyn Heights (91%), PS 11 in Clinton Hill (97%), PS 29 in Cobble Hill (91%), PS 31 (91%) and PS 34 (91%) in Greenpoint, and PS 172 (94%) in Bay Ridge have the highest performing students on the ELA test. These pass rates are 35+ points higher than the citywide average of 56%.

Over two-thirds of the schools in our neighborhoods saw an increase in passing rates for the Math test.
The highest performing schools include PS 11 (97%), PS 8 (91%), PS 29 (90%), PS 172 (90%), all 30+ points higher than the citywide average of 57%.
