Our annual Halloween Guide is packed with free, family-friendly fall fun and spooktacular Brooklyn events! Prospect Schools

Prospect Schools is hosting a Halloween Carnival on Thursday, October 23 from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM to celebrate the launch of our newest schools in Windsor Terrace. This fall, The Service Collective will once again accept new or gently used Halloween costumes (any size, any age) to benefit Safe Horizon. Drop off at St. Ann’s anytime between 8am-5pm on weekdays from September 29 through October 14. Costumes will be delivered to kids affected by domestic violence, ensuring they have a happy Halloween!

We will set up an “urban pumpkin patch” with 1,000 pumpkins waiting to be decorated by the kiddos. The outdoor plaza and car-free Fort Greene Place will feature arts & crafts, pumpkin painting, block building, haunted truck to enter (if you dare), costume dance party, face painting and more! The Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest is Brooklyn’s largest and longest-running dog competition! The event will take place at the bottom of the Fort Greene Park monument stairs. Brooklyn Bridge Parents is partnering with the 5th Avenue BID to bring you Halloween Fest, a spooktacular free block party taking over 10 car-free blocks of 5th Avenue from 72nd to 85th Street. Celebrate the season with free kids activities, including a bouncy house, pumpkin decorating, “Trunk-or-Treat,” a puppet show, haunted trucks, music, crafts, and so much more! The PuppetMobile will feature Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking at 4 pm, presented in tandem with the 80th anniversary of the beloved book and in association with the Astrid Lindgren Foundation. Enjoy delicious bites from local restaurants representing flavors from around the world and stroll through the festively decorated side streets of Bay Ridge. 8th Annual Cobble Hill Window Painting | Cobble Hill

The Cobble Hill Association is once again hosting their Halloween Window Painting event, where 75 local children create their own Halloween-themed painting on the windows of Court Street businesses. The event is open to children in grades 1-10 living in the neighborhood between and including Atlantic Avenue to Union Street, Smith Street to Columbia Street. Kids can register as an individual or team of 2, and registration is on a first-come basis.

Park Slope Parents’ beloved Halloween Costume Parade is back! Join from 11am-12pm for Halloween crafts and photos. At 12pm, the costume showcase and mini-parade will begin in Washington Park. After the showcase, everyone will parade up 3rd Street and through the playground!

Celebrate Halloween at IKEA Brooklyn | Red Hook

Join IKEA for a Halloween-themed family day, with a Swedish candy station, a Mummy Scavenger Hunt, and a costume photo area. There will also be a children’s play zone (for ages 5–10) with Halloween crafts. The first 100 IKEA Family members to check in will receive a free Halloween gift bag!

Spookysburg | Prospect Park

Join for Smorgasburg’s Halloween celebration, with food, costumes, and more fun in Prospect Park. There will be roaming mummies, witches, vampires & werewolves, a costume contest for guests (and pups!), a “Boonanza” giveaway with grand prizes, dance performances, face painting, arts & crafts, and spooky vendor specials, plus a spooky poet typing eerie verses on the spot. Plus, vendors will be competing for best Halloween decorations and will be serving spooky-themed dishes.

Join Town Square BK for their Greenpoint Children’s Halloween Parade, starting at 12pm in McCarren Park (corner of Manhattan Avenue and Driggs Avenue). The parade will march up Manhattan Avenue to Greenpoint Avenue. The parade willl then turn and march back to Hide & Seek, where there will be a Spooktacular Party with arts and crafts, live music, a movie, candy. The party is not free; tickets start at $20 per kid and $10 to cover two parents.

The Coney Island Children’s Halloween Festival will take over Maimonides Park with a parade, bubble shows, costume contest, face painting, inflatable mazes, and more family fun.
