Walking & running stroller groups for Brooklyn parents

Looking to get outside with your little one, squeeze in some exercise, and connect with fellow parents and neighbors? Brooklyn has no shortage of free stroller walks for new parents, running clubs that welcome tots in jogging strollers, and family-friendly runs in our local parks. Our overview features locations, ages, and how to get moving!

Walking Groups

Mommy & Me Walk | Prospect Park

Best for: Moms with babies in strollers

Meets: Sundays at 10am, plus more special events

Join on Peanut here

This Brooklyn-based walking club hosts walks for moms and moms-to-be, mostly in Prospect Park. The group uses Peanut as their main hub; learn more and sign up for the app here. Events include walks, picnics, and more community activities for moms and their babies.

Green-Wood on Wheels: Stroller-Friendly Walking Tour | Green-Wood Cemetery

Best for: Parents and caregivers with babies and toddlers in strollers

Meets: Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30am

In partnership with Park Slope Parents, Green-Wood Cemetery hosts stroller-friendly walks around their grounds. Participants can connect with other parents and caregivers, and also learn a bit about Green-Wood’s history!

Prospect Park Stroller Walks | Prospect Park

Best for: Parents and caregivers with babies and toddlers in strollers

Meets: Thursdays, 10am

Join fellow parents and caregivers for a leisurely stroll along Prospect Park’s waterways. Prospect Park Stroller Walks are held Thursdays from April–October from 10am–12pm, and depart from the Prospect Park Audubon Center.

Brooklyn Stroll Club | Various Locations

Best for: Dads with babies and toddlers ages 0-4

Brooklyn Stroll Club hosts meet-ups for dads with kids ages 0-4. The group was created for dads, by a dad! The group hosts walks, but also offers special events, classes, and more ways for dads to connect. Brooklyn Stroll Club’s community has grown quickly, and was even featured in The NY Times!

The Mom Walk Co. | Various Locations

Best for: Moms with babies in strollers

A newer group in Brooklyn, The Mom Walk Co. is part of the nationwide network called The Mom Walk Collective. Follow them on Instagram to find upcoming walks!

Running Groups

DUMBO Dads Run Club | Brooklyn Bridge Park

Best for: Dads with jogging strollers

Meets: Sundays, 8:30am

This local group for dads meets weekly at Butler in DUMBO (40 Water Street) for Sunday morning runs in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

parkrun | Brooklyn Bridge Park

Best for: Kids ages 7+ and their families

Meets: Saturdays, 8am (9am in the winter)

parkrun is a free, worldwide, weekly event where people of all ages and abilities walk, jog, run, or volunteer in a 5k event on Saturday mornings–in Brooklyn, you can join every week in Brooklyn Bridge Park! Families register online and receive a barcode which will record their time. All ages are welcome, and there is a coffee and catch-up after each run!

Brooklyn Heights Running Club | Brooklyn Bridge Park

Best for: Parents with jogging strollers

Meets: Daily; the largest run meets Sundays at 9am at Pier 5

Brooklyn Heights Running Club is a free community group that runs daily around Brooklyn Heights. Follow on socials for up-to-date information, and get connected with your neighborhood. The group welcomes parents with jogging strollers and even has a dedicated parents’ group in WhatsApp, “Chariots of Fire.” All runs are designed to be done at your easy recovery pace, with the exception of a Tuesday morning speed run.

Rising NYRR Events | Various Locations

Best for: Kids ages 2-18 and their families

The running organization New York Road Runners hosts free Rising NYRR youth events for kids with an interest in running. Events take place all over the city, with some in Brooklyn. Kids can also run with families in the free weekly Open Runs, community-led runs in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Shore Road Park, Highland Park, Marine Park, and Canarsie Park.
