New amenities for families in Brooklyn November ’25

This month brought several exciting openings to Brooklyn—from new indoor play spaces in Boerum Hill and Sunset Park, to a renovated playground in Fort Greene, the reopening of Barnes and Noble in Park Slope, and a new pottery studio in Greenpoint. Even more openings are slated before the end of the year, including the supermarket a Lidl in Park Slope, a Whole Foods in Williamsburg, and a new pickleball club in Red Hook.

Cuyler Gore Park and Playground | Fort Greene | NOW OPEN

Cuyler Gore Park’s year-long renovation is complete. The park is open to relax and play. New yellow tables and chairs are perfect to have a snack or watch your children play in the brand new playground. Made up of a small and large jungle gym as well as a spray area, everyone is guaranteed to enjoy this new space.

Space House | Sunset Park | NOW OPEN

Space House, on the border of Sunset Park and Borough Park, is an indoor playground with trampolines, ball pits, arcade games, and more fun activities for both little and big kids. Families can buy jump tickets or arcade credits separately, or purchase a special combo deal. They also host birthday parties.

Barnes and Noble | Park Slope | NOW OPEN

After a four month long renovation, the Barnes and Noble in Park Slope reopened on November 12th. It is one of the biggest book stores in New York City and now has a larger children’s section. Stop by between 8am-8pm Monday-Friday, Saturday 9am-8pm, or Sunday 10am-7pm to shop and see the beautiful improvements!

The Pottery Studio | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN

The Pottery Studio’s newest location in Greenpoint is now open. Their pottery community provides open spaces for anyone to work from hobbyists, students to professional and production artists. Classes are primarily for adults, but they do allow ages as young as 12 and older. Check out their class schedule here to get an idea of their offerings and check out membership pricing here. KIDZ Play Zone | Boerum Hill | NOW OPEN

A new indoor play space has soft opened at 546 Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn, offering open play, parent groups, birthday parties, workshops, classes, camps, and more. Currently, the play space is open 9am-12pm on weekdays, 9am-3pm on Saturdays, and 9am-12pm on Sundays, with more hours coming soon. You can book 60-minute sessions, and members can come for unlimited play. Learn more here.

Hashi Market | Downtown Brooklyn | NOW OPEN

A new Asian market has opened at 299 Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. It’s a supermarket, mini department store, plus catering services, all in one. You’ll find sashimi-grade seafood, bentos, onigiri, matcha, and Japanese snacks and groceries.

Concordia Preschool | Fort Greene | NOW OPEN

Concordia Preschool is a new bilingual preschool serving Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. Their approach is inspired by Montessori and Regio Emilia, and children learn both English and French or Spanish, developing bilingual fluency. They have large indoor classrooms and an indoor gym. Families can choose from half-day, full-day, or extended-day options, with 2-, 3-, or 5-day plans. They have programs for Toddlers and Preschoolers, plus After School programs and Mommy and Me sessions. Learn more here!

K-Slope Market | Park Slope | NOW OPEN

Steve’s C-Town closed in September in Park Slope, and a new marketplace has soft opened in its place. Their grand opening will be in January, but they’ll be building the full store experience until then. Located at 329 9th Street, they are stocked with natural and organic fruits and veggies, a full-service butcher shop, an artisan deli, an international fish counter, fresh-baked breads, sushi, flowers, groceries, international foods and more. They will also have free local delivery.

Slope Market | Park Slope | NOW OPEN

Another new Park Slope supermarket selling organic produce opened on November 9 on 4th Avenue between 18th & 19th streets. Open daily until 9pm.

Rainbow | Sunset Park | NOW OPEN

Rainbow clothing store is back in Sunset Park in a bigger location. Located at 50th Street and 5th Avenue, shoppers can find womens, juniors, and plus-size clothing as well as shoes and accessories.

BAM Karen Brooks Hopkins Center for Performing Arts | Downtown Brooklyn | NOW OPEN

The newest addition to the L10 Arts and Cultural Center is the BAM Karen Brooks Hopkins Center for the Performing Arts (BAM KBH), which houses BAM’s 160 years of archives and is home to the BAM Rose Cinemas at BAM KBH, a 60-seat black box theater for experimental performances, readings, and community events.

Haiti Cultural Exchange | Downtown Brooklyn | NOW OPEN

Haiti Cultural Exchange (HCX), the Brooklyn-based nonprofit dedicated to Haitian arts and culture, has moved from Crown Heights to a new home at 35 Lafayette Avenue, across the street from BAM. The center will host performances, exhibitions, residencies, talks, and panels. The HCX was founded by seven Haitian women in 2009, and continues to provide Haitian artists a place to present their work. All performances are open to the public with a suggested donation; RSVPs are encouraged. Open hours are Thursday through Sunday from 1-6pm, Wednesday by appointment.

Lidl | Park Slope | Opening December 10

Lidl will open on December 10 at 680 Baltic Street, at the corner of 5th Avenue and Baltic Street. The supermarket is part of the Paseo on Fifth development in Park Slope, which includes two luxury apartment buildings and various retailers on the ground floor. Similar to Trader Joe’s and Aldi, Lidl offers a broad assortment of products, including its 49-cent butter croissants, private-label Butcher’s Specialty meats, and Bon Gelati mini ice cream bars. Shoppers can also find gourmet favorites like frozen tiramisu, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, and authentic prosciutto. Lidl will be open 8am-9pm daily.

Whole Foods Daily Shop | Williamsburg | Opening December 11

Whole Foods is opening a 7,888-square-foot “daily shop” at 774 Grand Street in Williamsburg, part of its smaller-format, grab-and-go concept.  The bodega-style shop will feature local Northeast products alongside fresh produce, sushi, rotisserie chicken, take-and-bake pizzas, seasonal salads, and 365 brand staples, plus artisanal cheeses and baked goods from Junior’s and Balthazar.

Lidl | Williamsburg | Opening Winter 2025-26

The sweep of Lidl markets into the Brooklyn scene continues with a location in Williamsburg gearing up to open on Lorimer and Grand Street.

Velto Pickleball Club | Red Hook | Opening Winter 2025-26

Velto Pickleball Club is scheduled to open in Fall 2025 on the second floor of the Tesla Building at 160 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, occupying 14,000 square feet with four full-size courts, a half-court, a mezzanine lounge, and a smoothie bar. The club, New York City’s first fully automated pickleball facility, will offer competitive matches, open play, lessons and clinics, coaching, private events, and leagues for players of all skill levels. Additional spaces include lounges and coworking areas. Hours will be Monday through Sunday from 6am to 12am, with separate peak and off-peak pricing for members and non-members.

The Goods Mart | Williamsburg | Opening January 2025

The Goods Mart, a convenience store focused on healthier snacks and pantry staples, is coming later this year to Williamsburg Wharf, the new mixed-use waterfront development at 470 Kent Avenue. This will be the shop’s first location in Williamsburg, joining a retail lineup at Williamsburg Wharf that includes a new location of Breads Bakery and a restaurant from chef Eyal Shani. The female-owned Goods Mart offers snacks, drinks, and everyday items from emerging brands.

Brooklyn Uprising | DUMBO | Opening January 2026

Brooklyn Uprising, a new indoor rock climbing gym, is set to open in January 2026 at 20 John Street in DUMBO, directly across from Brooklyn Bridge Park. Alongside bouldering walls, the facility will feature weight training, a sauna, and locker rooms, plus options for climbing coaching and personal training. The gym will be for ages 16 and up.

DUMBO Ceramics | DUMBO | Opening January 2026

A new pottery studio will open on the corner of Jay and John in the former NY Media Center space in January 2026 offering pottery classes for adults and kids, day camps, and community events. Stay tuned for more details.

Petit Poussins | New location in Carroll Gardens | Opening January 2026 

Petits Poussins is opening up a new location in Carroll Gardens at 283 Court Street. The French-English bilingual daycare will infants and toddlers ages 3 months to 2 years. Each classroom has one French-speaking teacher and one English-speaking teacher, with a curriculum focused on early language acquisition, well-being, and the development of fine and gross motor skills. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

Five Iron Golf | Williamsburg | Opening Spring 2026

Indoor golf simulation with a clubhouse style restaurant is coming to the plaza at 25 Kent Avenue. Slated to open in spring of 2026, this location will have state-of-the-art Trackman golf simulator bays, high-speed swing cameras, and access to 200+ world-class virtual golf courses.

Expansion of Brooklyn Conservatory of Music | Grand Army Plaza | Opening Fall 2026

In Fall 2026, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will open a second hub on Grand Army Plaza, just a few blocks away from their Park Slope home at 58 7th Avenue. The new 12,000 square foot expansion at One Prospect Park West will more than double enrollment in their music programs, and will house their new Music Therapy Institute. Union Market | Gowanus | Opening date TBA

The Brooklyn grocer Union Market has a signed a lease for a 10,000-square-foot grocery store at 499 President in Gowanus. Union Market carries speciality and organic groceries, with six locations across Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan. The mixed-use development at 499 President is slated to become a neighborhood hub, with other retail tenants including Italian cafe Corto, Spear Physical Therapy, pizzeria Paulie Gee’s, and Royal Palms Shuffleboard.

The Malin Co-Working Space | New location in Brooklyn Heights | Opening date TBA

The co-working company The Malin has announced a new location coming to 57 Court Street in Brooklyn Heights. The 15,000 square foot space will be located on the second floor above SoulCycle, Sephora, and Hot 8 Yoga. This will be The Malin’s 7th location in New York City and its 2nd location in Brooklyn, with an outpost already established in Williamsburg.

Cobble Hill Ballet | New location in Gowanus | Opening date TBA

Cobble Hill Ballet, the ballet studio for toddlers all the way up to adults, has signed a lease for a 5,803 square foot space at 300 Huntington Street in Gowanus. The studio already has locations in Carroll Gardens, Gowanus, and the Columbia Street Waterfront. The studio will be on the 5th floor of a mixed-use 6-story building.

Life Time | New location in Gowanus | Opening in 2028

The athletic club Life Time has announced another Brooklyn location on the Gowanus waterfront. Still in development, 175 Third Street will be the largest building in Gowanus when it is finished. The new Life Time Club will occupy 85,000 square feet, with year-round rooftop hot and cold pools, saunas, and a bar. Indoors, it will have a co-ed wet suite with sauna, steam, red-light and infrared therapies. There will also be pickleball, coworking lounge spaces, and a Kids Academy with supervised childcare for 3 months and up.
