At Kane Street Kids, we believe that a child’s parents and guardians are their first teachers. Before children ever set foot into our building, they have already learned so much from all of you. This is why we love to collaborate with families–you are the expert on your child, which is why we value open and consistent communication with all of the important adults in your child’s life.
At KSK, children ages 2-5 joyfully engage in co-authored emergent curriculum based in inquiry, problem-solving, and collaboration. Our approach is centered around seeing children as capable individuals with unique interests. Keeping relationships at the heart of our work, we encourage children and adults to come as they are, supporting families through the stages and phases of early childhood development.
In addition to our intimate, playful preschool program, Kane Street Kids offers a Gentle Separation Program on Tuesday and Thursdays mornings from 9:00-10:30am for children who turn 2 in 2027.
Beginning in September 2026, children, along with a parent or caregiver, will join us for playtime in the classroom, circle time, and a morning snack. Once each child turns two, we will support them to gently separate from their home adult to their KSK teachers when they are ready. Our Gentle Separation Program is a great fit for families who would like to introduce their child to the routines of a school setting while beginning to build skills around play, language, and curiosity in a relaxed learning environment.
Applications are open for our Gentle Separation, 2s, 3s, and mixed age Pre-K programs at KSK for the 2026-27 school year at kanestreet.org/ksk-application.
