First retail tenants for Kushner’s DUMBO Heights – the five former Jehovah’s Witnesses buildings between DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights – have been revealed. While they will mostly cater to the around 7,000 office workers there including Etsy, WeWork and others, local parents can get excited about these food news:
Dig Inn promises to bring farm-fresh ingredients and top-notch cooking to your lunch break for about 10 bucks. They offer daily market plates (5-spice meatballs, grilled organic tofu or wild sockeye salmon each with 2 sides) sandwiches and cold-pressed juices.
Untamed Sandwiches makes braised meat sandwiches created with 100% sustainable ingredients, as well as veggie sandwiches that are also made with 100% sustainable ingredients. They offer sandwiches like “Nettle Neck with braised lamb neck, walnut nettle pesto, gruyere cheese, pickled spring onions, charred onion tops”, plates, soups and deserts.
Bluestone Lane with four locations in Manhattan has been chosen as the coffee retailer at Dumbo Heights, where the café will open in the 55 Prospect Street building with a coffee lounge and roasting plant.
Dos Toros Taqueria offers tacos, burritos and quesadillas with braised pork, grilled chicken, grilled steak or vegetarian. They promise a menu that is short and sweet, so you can spend more time eating and less time trying to figure out what to order.
The restaurants are planned to open end of 2015. Stay tuned!
