This month brought several exciting openings to Brooklyn – from the grand opening of the largest recreation center in the borough in East Flatbush, a Pilates studio in DUMBO, a welcomed option for childcare in Sunset Park, and new grocery options in Williamsburg and Downtown Brooklyn. Even more openings are slated for March, including a candy store in Fort Greene and a large indoor play space in Williamsburg.
Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center | East Flatbush | NOW OPEN
This month, Brooklyn welcomed the first new Parks recreation center in over a decade. The Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center is the first in Central Brooklyn and the largest in the borough. The 74,000 square foot space includes a pool, fitness rooms, dance studio, basketball court, media lab, kitchen, teen room, and much more.

Sunset Park West Child and Family Center | Sunset Park | NOW OPEN
In the beginning of February, Grand Street Settlement opened their third Head Start site in Sunset Park at 411 52nd Street. Sunset Park has been identified by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services as an area that has ten times more children than available childcare slots, and local politicians and community members are excited to have a new, high-quality child care center in the neighborhood.

CAMP Brooklyn | Gowanus | NOW OPEN
A performing and visual arts camp that’s had over a decade and half of success in Williamsburg has now opened a second location in Gowanus at 425 Hoyt Street. This location will begin with offering sessions to ages 4-8. Check their social media for open houses and more information.

Moi Nails | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN
Looking for a new place to get a manicure or pedicure? Moi Nails in Greenpoint celebrated its grand opening this month and offers unique nail design in a beautiful setting. Check out their social media for some inspiration.

The Fresh Grocer | Downtown Brooklyn | NOW OPEN
Fulton Mall has a new supermarket. The Pennsylvania-based chain The Fresh Grocer opened at 523 Fulton Street on February 13th. The store is open daily from 7:00am-10:00pm.

The Livingston | Downtown Brooklyn | NOW OPEN
Brooklyn’s first Hyatt hotel is now open at 291 Livingston Street. Reservations can be booked here.

Mouv | Vinegar Hill | NOW OPEN
Mouv is NYC’s first infrared hot mat and reformer pilates studio. It is located on Water Street in Vinegar Hill. Stop by to a take a reformer pilates, barre, or yoga class.
Tiny Hearts Play Cafe | Williamsburg | NOW OPEN
Tiny Hearts Play Cafe is a Montessori playroom that has open play and hosts birthday parties. Caretakers can enjoy beverages and treats from their cafe. They had their soft opening celebration on February 14th!

Whole Foods Daily Shop | Williamsburg | Opening February 26
Whole Foods is opening a 7,888-square-foot “daily shop” at 774 Grand Street in Williamsburg, part of its smaller-format, grab-and-go concept. The bodega-style shop will feature local Northeast products alongside fresh produce, sushi, rotisserie chicken, take-and-bake pizzas, seasonal salads, and 365 brand staples, plus artisanal cheeses and baked goods from Junior’s and Balthazar.

Parkish | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA
Parkish is a 5,000-square-foot indoor play space coming to Williamsburg that will be members-only, open from 6am to 10pm every day. The concept is part indoor park, cafe (with coffee, wine, and light bites), and social club, designed for both kids and adults. Interested families can join the waitlist here.

Brooklyn Uprising | DUMBO | Opening soon
Brooklyn Uprising, a new indoor bouldering gym, is opening soon at 20 John Street in DUMBO, across from Brooklyn Bridge Park. The facility (ages 16+ only) will offer bouldering walls, strength-training equipment, locker rooms with showers, and a cedar sauna, along with optional climbing coaching and personal training. Memberships will start at $135 per month, with additional day pass, punch pass, and annual options planned.

Pure Barre | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening soon
Pure Barre will be opening its newest NYC location on Hoyt Street soon. Keep an eye on their social media for founding member rates and the grand opening date.

Canopy Dance | North Williamsburg | Grand opening March 1, 2026
Williamsburg is getting a new dance studio for children ages 1-10. They will be offering ballet, jazz, hip hop, K-pop, and creative movement classes. Enrollment is currently open and there is an open house on February 28th. Sign up here.

UNIQLO | Williamsburg | Opening March 20, 2026
The Japanese clothing brand UNIQLO will open a new flagship at 187 Kent Avenue in March. The affordable retailer is expanding in the U.S. in 2026, and will also open a handful of new locations in Manhattan. Located on the ground floor of a 7-story mixed-use building, UNIQLO will sell clothes and accessories for men and women, as well as for kids and babies.
Candor | Fort Greene | March 2026
A new candy shop is coming to 664 Fulton Street this spring, and will sell both sweets and select pantry items.

Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club | DUMBO | March 2026
The Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club will be moving to a larger space at 295 Front Street. The new space is expected to have 20 full-length fencing strips and should be open for classes and competitions in March.

The Green-House at Green-Wood | Sunset Park | Opening Spring 2026
The beautiful new Green-House at Green-Wood Cemetery will be opening in the spring. It will feature space for school programming, exhibition galleries, a Center for Research, and more. It will also be available to rent for private events.

Greenpoint Comedy Club | Opening Spring 2026
The Greenpoint Comedy Club will be opening in the spring on Greenpoint Avenue between Franklin Street and West Street. Get ready to laugh by signing up for their email list here.

The Malin Co-Working Space | New location in Brooklyn Heights | Spring 2026
The co-working company The Malin has announced a new location coming to 57 Court Street in Brooklyn Heights. The 15,000 square foot space will be located on the second floor above SoulCycle, Sephora, and Hot 8 Yoga. This will be The Malin’s 7th location in New York City and its 2nd location in Brooklyn, with an outpost already established in Williamsburg.

Five Iron Golf | Williamsburg | Opening Spring 2026
Indoor golf simulation with a clubhouse style restaurant is coming to the plaza at 25 Kent Avenue. Slated to open in spring of 2026, this location will have state-of-the-art Trackman golf simulator bays, high-speed swing cameras, and access to 200+ world-class virtual golf courses.

Planet Fitness | Park Slope | Opening Spring 2026
Planet Fitness has signed a 10 year lease and will open in the spring in Paseo on Fifth.

Expansion of Brooklyn Conservatory of Music | Grand Army Plaza | Opening Fall 2026
In Fall 2026, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will open a second hub on Grand Army Plaza, just a few blocks away from their Park Slope home at 58 7th Avenue. The new 12,000 square foot expansion at One Prospect Park West will more than double enrollment in their music programs, and will house their new Music Therapy Institute. Blooming Prep Preschool | Brooklyn Heights | Opening date TBA
Blooming Prep is opening its first school at 168 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, taking over a former CVS location that has also been a seasonal October location for the Halloween store Spirit Halloween. The preschool will implement a Reggio Emilia curriculum.

Vuori | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA
The athletic clothing brand Vuori is opening a new retail location in Williamsburg. The new shop will be on 6th Street between Berry and Wythe, next to Rothy’s.

The Goods Mart | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA
The Goods Mart, a convenience store focused on healthier snacks and pantry staples, is coming later this year to Williamsburg Wharf, the new mixed-use waterfront development at 470 Kent Avenue. This will be the shop’s first location in Williamsburg, joining a retail lineup at Williamsburg Wharf that includes a new location of Breads Bakery and a restaurant from chef Eyal Shani. The female-owned Goods Mart offers snacks, drinks, and everyday items from emerging brands.

Lidl | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA
Another 27,0000-square-foot location of Lidl is slated to open soon on the ground floor of 597 Grand Street in Williamsburg. The new store will occupy a mixed-use retail and residential building between Leonard and Lorimer Streets, which was the former site of a Key Foods. Similar to Trader Joe’s and Aldi, Lidl offers a broad assortment of products, including its 49-cent butter croissants, private-label Butcher’s Specialty meats, and Bon Gelati mini ice cream bars. Shoppers can also find gourmet favorites like frozen tiramisu, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, and authentic prosciutto.

Arizona College of Nursing | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening date TBA
Arizona College of Nursing is opening its first New York campus after signing a 10-year lease for 40,000 square feet at 532 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. The Glendale, Arizona–based school will occupy the sixth through eighth floors of the Paxton, a 43-story mixed-use tower near Borough Hall and MetroTech.
