Applications are open for Summer Rising 2026, a partnership between New York City Public Schools and the Department of Youth and Community Development to offer a free summer learning and enrichment program for students in kindergarten through eighth grade across Brooklyn.
At the Summer Rising program, students receive teacher‑led instruction in English Language Arts and math, alongside morning enrichment opportunities such as financial literacy, arts, and STEM. Afternoons provide extra opportunities for creativity and exploration through arts, sports, STEM activities, and field trips run in partnership with community‑based organizations. Any student who resides in and attends school in New York City and is currently in kindergarten through eighth grade during the 2025-2026 school year is eligible to apply.
With approximately 110,000 seats available, placement decisions focus on equity. Priority will be given to students with academic needs, 12-month Individualized Education Programs (IEP), students in temporary housing or foster care, and students with a local connection to a school-year CBO program or school community. Families must accept or decline their offers by May 5. Find out more at nyc.gov/SummerRising.
