Jehovah’s Witnesses sell parking lot in DUMBO and two buildings in Brooklyn Heights

Jehovah’s Witnesses have put up three properties in Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights for sale.

One of the properties up for sale is the current parking lot at 85 Jay Street in DUMBO which has 1 million sq. ft of development rights. The Brooklyn Eagle reported, more than a decade ago the Witnesses won a city zoning variance that allows residential construction at the site. They made plans to build four apartment towers on the property. This lot, if DUMBO’s rezoning for PS 307 will go through, will be in the new PS 307 zone. The Department of Education has taken this lot into account for its rezoning calculation. They are expecting 1,000 new apartments to be built there which would lead to around 290 additional elementary school kids in DUMBO.
