Jehovah’s Witnesses reach $700M handshake deal for headquarter and Jay Street parking lot sale

The New York Post broke the news that the Jehovah’s Witnesses appear to have achieved a handshake deal with Jared Kushner, Aby Rosen and LIVWRK to sell off the 733,000-square-foot world headquarters at 25-30 Columbia Heights and the 1.1-million-square-foot as-of-right development site at 85 Jay Street.

The pricing for the two properties is about $700 million. Contracts for the two properties have not have been signed yet.

The same group Jared Kushner, Aby Rosen and LIVWRK purchased 1.2 million square feet in Dumbo Heights for $375 million in 2013 from the Witnesses and are now leasing to such companies as WeWork and Etsy. They are most likely planning to turn the headquarter into offices and possibly build a residential development at the Dumbo site which could house around 1,000 new apartments.
