Brooklyn Bridge Park board of directors approves Pier 6 developments

Brooklyn Bridge Park approved the plan to build two apartment towers at Pier 6 on Tuesday 6/7. In a 12 to 4 vote, the city-run board that’s chaired by Alicia Glen, deputy mayor for housing and economic development,  approved the proposal for the towers during a public meeting in Downtown Brooklyn.

RAL Development Services was selected to build the project. The 315 foot tower (28 stories with 30 feet of mechanicals on top) closer to the water will have only market rate condominiums; the 182 foot tower (14-15 stories with 30 feet of mechanicals on top) will contain 100 affordable and 40 market rate rental apartments. Retail space, public restrooms and a 75-seat universal pre-K facility are also in the plans.

Construction is planned to begin in the next 9 to 12 months. The Brooklyn Heights Association and its coalition partners will take legal action against this decision.
