Brooklyn’s New York Liberty wins WNBA Championship & celebrations Thursday 10/24

The New York Liberty have won the WNBA Championship after defeating the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday 10/20/24 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn! This is the team’s first-ever championship in 28 seasons, and fans across New York City are poised to celebrate this historic victory. On Thursday, October 24, there will be a championship parade in lower Manhattan, followed by a ceremony at City Hall, as well as a free evening celebration at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Liberty’s mascot (and viral sensation) Ellie the Elephant is sure to be the life of the party.

  • Victory Parade | 10am | Lower Manhattan | The parade is free and open to the public. It will start in Battery Park, march up Broadway, and end at City Hall.

This was an outstanding season for the team from start to finish. Two standout players, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu, were even selected to play on Team USA during the Paris Olympics this summer.

Following their historic win, some are already calling New York Liberty favorites to win the championship again next year. The next WNBA season will start in May 2025, with all the Liberty home games played at Barclays Center. Tickets generally start at $35/person.
