Brooklyn Ballet School
Program Details: Brooklyn Ballet School is a classical ballet conservatory and a community dance center. Faculty provide training in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, composition, and improvisation to students (ages 3-17). An in-person placement audition is required for all new students ages 10-17 prior to registration. Advanced students may also access the Conservatory Training Program for ages 8-17, which prepares young dancers with professional skills. 2024/25 Classes: Click here for Spring 2025 registration for for Pre-Ballet I & II (ages 3-4) and Elementary Ballet I & II (ages 5-7). Registration is closed for the 2024/2025 school year for Level I (ages 8-10), Level I/II (ages 8-12), and Level II (ages 10-12). However, registration remains open for the 2024/2025 school year for Levels III & IV (ages 13-17). Placement audition is required for Level III & IV students. Mark Morris Dance Center
Program Details: The Mark Morris Dance Center offers dance classes for all ages and abilities and studio rentals in the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District. The Early Childhood Program offers 45-minute classes for newborns and toddlers with their grown-ups, as well as creative dance classes for ages 4-6. Classes are held weekly on 8-week cycles, and are amiable 7 days a week. The Children and Teen Program (ages 6-18) offers semester-long classes in many disciplines: ballet, hip-hop, jazz, modern, tap, West African dance, and much more. Advanced students (ages 10-18) may also audition for The Student Company of The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center, which stages a public performance at the end of the year. Finally, the Center offers Adaptive Dance for students with disabilities, Family Classes, and Dance Camps during school breaks and the summer. Gowanus
Brooklyn Center Stage
Program Details: BCS is founded and run by professional dancer and educator Heidi Flanagan. BCS trains dancers of all ages and abilities, and embraces dance in all its forms, from ballet to tap, jazz, modern, musical theater and hip hop. The year culminates in a recital at Berkeley Carroll School. 2024/25 Classes: See the 2024/25 class schedule here. The spring semester runs from January 4 – May 16, 2025. The annual BCS recital will take place in May 2025.

Brooklyn Dance Conservatory
Program Details: Brooklyn Dance Conservatory’s team of professionals teach exceptional dance technique while encouraging students to explore their own creativity and move with confidence. BKDC provides classes starting at age 1, giving confident walkers the ability to explore the beginnings of dance through imaginative play. As students grow, they have the option to study ballet and/or hip-hop, modern dance, jazz and tap dance, and they may also choose to advance their training to the pre-professional level. 2024/25 Classes: BKDC’s new studio at 497 Carroll Street opened in August 2024. Brooklyn Dance Lessons
Program Details: Brooklyn Dance Lessons is a series of curated dance boutiques specializing in ballroom dance classes for both adults and children. Youth classes are open to all levels, whether children are interested in ballroom dance as a hobby or a competitive pursuit. In addition to ballroom, they provide classes in modern dance, hip-hop, and ballet basics, with some classes also offered in Russian. They also host family dance camps, dance and art summer or school break camps, and unique birthday parties. 2024/25 Classes: The Spring 2025 semester runs from January June. Dancewave
Program Details: Dancewave strives to cultivate participatory learning and decision-making, empathy and self-expression through dance. Youth Programs include semester-long classes in creative movement, contemporary, and ballet. The Ephyras Youth Ensemble
Program Details: The Ephyras is an empowering and joyful dance theatre program for kids. The youth performers explore their own identities and life experiences through movement and voice while learning precise technique from a range of dance styles including ballet and modern. We nurture the dancers’ interest in writing their own poetry and song and we help the dancers ignite self-empowerment through improvisation and movement composition. With professional dancers from ChristinaNoel & The Creature as mentors and collaborators, The Ephyras work to expand ideas of what dance and theater can be, and much of the material used in performance is created by the kids themselves. 2024/25 Classes: The spring semester will run from February 24 – June 22.

Park Slope
Brooklyn Arts Exchange
Program Details: Taught by professional artist faculty, BAX offers classes in dance, theater, tumbling and AcroDance, with an emphasis on cultivating creative expression. BAX students develop improvisation, original composition, and performance skills, while working independently and in collaboration. During each semester, families will have the opportunity to participate in Family Classes. The fall semester ends with an Open Studio, and the spring semester culminates in student performances. BAX also offers Performance Workshops and custom classes for a small pod of families. Note: BAX offers school pick up Monday thought Thursday from select schools including BNS, PS 321, PS 130, PS 118, and PS 39. 2024/25 Classes: The Spring 2025 semester runs from February 3 through June 21. Dance Studio of Park Slope
Program Details: Dance Studio of Park Slope is celebrating 49 years of teaching dance, theatre, acro, and performance. Classes include dance and tumbling for toddlers their caregivers, as well as performance classes culminating in recitals. Students can train in creative dance, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, breakdancing, acro jazz, and modern. 2024/25 Classes: The Spring 2025 semester begins on January 27. Red Hook
Cora Dance Brooklyn
Program Details: Cora Dance is home to a professional dance company and a pay-what-you-can dance education program in Red Hook. Neighboring Brooklyn’s largest NYCHA public housing community, Cora is committed to providing equal access for all to dance. Students can enroll in weekly pay-what-you-can classes in Modern, Hip-Hop, and Creative Movement. Students in grades 4-12 may also audition for CYC/Cora Youth Company, which provides an opportunity to study dance more seriously by learning and performing a wide range of works by professional choreographers. Asase Yaa School of the Arts | Bed Stuy
Program Details: The School of the Arts was founded in 2010 with the mission to provide quality dance and drum instruction to boys and girls students ages 3 to 18. Through intensive study and technical training in various dance forms that include tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, modern, and African, students become well versed in their genre over the course of the 37 week program (which typically runs from October to June). 2024/25 Classes: Beginning in the 2024-25 season, the School of the Arts will be presented in their new state-of-the-art community arts space in Bedford Stuyvesant. The center includes three dance studios, a music room, a community lounge, and office space. The theme for the 2024-2025 season is Black Dance Is… It was created to remind both students and the community of the rich history of Black dance and how it has shaped and influenced the landscape of art and culture worldwide. Covenant Ballet Academy | Gravesend
Program Details: Covenant Ballet Academy offers dance training in ballet, modern, contemporary, and jazz. The school’s youngest students may take the Tiny Toes program, a playful and creative movement-based class for toddlers with a caregiver. 3 to 7 year-olds may enroll in Early Steps, which introduces ballet. Students 8 and older are offered the 10-month Training Program, with coursework in ballet, modern, jazz, pointe, men’s class and partnering. Cynthia King Dance Studio | Flatbush
Program Details: Led by professional dancer, choreographer and educator Cynthia King, the CKDS curriculum embraces classical to emerging styles. We offer classes in ballet, modern, contemporary and hip hop. The studio offers both a full school year program and short term seasonal classes, as well as adult drop-in classes. Students may also audition for the CKDS Company, a pre-professional professional dance company. Cobble Hill Ballet | Carroll Gardens, Columbia Street Waterfront District & Gowanus
Program Details: Cobble Hill Ballet teaches ballet and modern dance to children, teens, and adults. Founder Colette Linton-Meyer was trained at the Royal Academy of Dance in London and is a licentiate of the Royal Academy, which is recognized worldwide. She has been teaching this method of training for the past 22 years in New York and has trained dancers of all ages. Two programs are offered: weekly ballet classes or an “intensive track,” which requires multiple lessons per week depending on age. Most ballet students perform in a Spring Recital at Brooklyn College, and older ballet students have the opportunity to stage a performance of The Nutcracker at The Tribeca Performing Arts Center.
