Demolition under way for “Montague Pierrepont Apartments” rental building

The former office building at 189 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights is being demolished to make space for a new residential building to be finished by the end of 2017. Developer Jonathan Rose Companies will build “Montague Pierrepont Apartments” which will be a family-oriented rental apartment building with retail space.

The building is comprised of a 19-story tower on Montague Street and a 19-story tower on Pierrepont Street connected by a common 2-story base. The project will be approximately 160,000 gross square feet, containing 86 apartments and approximately 6,000 square feet of ground floor commercial area with street frontage on both Montague and Pierrepont.

On the website of the developer: “The residential units will be 80% luxury rental and 20% affordable. The apartments have been designed to accommodate families, the majority of which are 2-3 bedrooms. All apartments will feature high-quality finishes including hardwood floors, porcelain tile bathrooms, and an energy-efficient, quiet VRF system for heating and cooling. Kitchens will feature stainless-steel appliances, solid surface countertops with ceramic tile backsplashes. Every unit will include a vented washing machine and dryer. Some units will also feature private outdoor terraces.”
