GSB is thrilled to add a Spanish immersion program to our school beginning with our Preschool and Kindergarten classes in September 2025. After a decade of successful German language immersion, we are excited to open our doors, literally and figuratively, to a broader local and global community.
Program Overview
Like our German program, the Spanish program at GSB fosters bilingualism and cultural awareness from an early age, blending language acquisition with inquiry-based learning. Young learners are encouraged to explore, question, and develop critical thinking skills while immersed in a Spanish-speaking environment. Spanish is a natural choice for us, given its prevalence in the U.S. and its status as one of the most widely spoken languages globally. Plus, the Spanish language has always been part of our curriculum. We have been offering Spanish instruction to all of our students in Grades 3 and up since the early days of our school.
Alignment with the International Baccalaureate
We are an IB candidate school, and the new Spanish immersion program will strengthen our candidacy and follow our tested educational approach which emphasizes language acquisition, cultural understanding, and the development of well-rounded, reflective learners. The addition of the Spanish program, alongside our existing German program, will broaden the linguistic and cultural experiences available to our students, reinforcing their preparedness to engage with the world.
