Get international children’s books at the Brooklyn Heights Library or other local branches

Attention international families and families with children learning languages at school: You can borrow books in various languages including Spanish, Hebrew, French, Chinese, Russian and German and pick them up at the Brooklyn Public Library in Brooklyn Heights or any other local branch. It is completely free! Here is how to do it:

1. Register for a Bklyn Public Library account online and get your library card within 7 days in the mail.

2. Log-in online to your account and activate it once you have received the card.

3. On the top left side under the “Search” button “Find Books”, you click on “Advanced Search”

4. You define “Language” and “Audience” and hit “Search”

5. You place a hold on the books you want, pick them up at your local branch and return them 3 weeks later.

On another note: According to staff at the Brooklyn Heights location, the move to the temporary location of the library will take place in June 2016. It will be relocated to 95 Remsen Street, five blocks from the current location, to a renovated branch space at Our Lady of Lebanon Church.
