Brooklyn families have a lot to get excited about this fall. New arrivals include youth basketball training centers in Downtown Brooklyn and Greenpoint, NYC’s first offshore wind education hub in Sunset Park, a board game café and kids’ dance studio, both in DUMBO, new daycares and preschools across Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, Park Slope, and Greenpoint, a new music school in Greenpoint, and a retro candy shop in Bay Ridge. And there’s plenty more to come—on the horizon are the much-buzzed-about Space Club indoor play space and Ferox ninja park in DUMBO, a pickleball club in Red Hook, and more!
Brooklyn Basketball Training Center | Downtown Brooklyn | NOW OPEN
The Brooklyn Basketball Training Center by the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, located just across the street from Barclays Center on Flatbush Avenue, opened its doors this month. The 19,000 square foot facility offers after-school and weekend programming, camps, birthday parties, clinics, and much more for kids ages 6 to 14.

WindScape Brooklyn | Industry City | NOW OPEN
WindScape Brooklyn is a new interactive learning center all about the science and power of wind. Kids and families can explore hands-on exhibits, test wind tunnels, and dive into STEM activities. Admission is free and open to the public on Thursdays (12–8pm) and Saturdays (9am–5pm), with rotating workshops and family-friendly events. Starting October 2025, schools can book field trips by reservation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (10am–1pm). The Program NYC Youth Basketball Training Facility | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN
The Program is a new state-of-the-art basketball training facility opening at 255 Java Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Spanning 12,500 square feet, it features regulation courts, weight and turf areas, a recovery room, a film room, and more for players ages 6-18. The Program is dedicated to developing young players through elite coaching and specialized training. Adults can also inquire about a program for players 18+. Greenpoint Academy of Music & Arts | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN
The Greenpoint Academy of Music and Arts (GAMA) opened this month and offers private and group lessons in guitar, drums, piano, vocals, and bass for children, teens, and adults. After-school programs run from 3–6pm, and GAMA also offers music lessons for babies and toddlers, focusing on rhythm, sound, and movement, held every Monday and Wednesday from 9:45–10:30am and 10:45–11:30am in McGolrick Park. Story Time Chess | Park Slope | NOW OPEN
Story Time Chess, previously known as Chess at Three, is now open at 254 7th Avenue on the corner of 5th Street, in former home of Prime Cafe. Story Time Chess uses stories to teach chess to kids as young as 3. They offer classes, school holiday camps, and summer camps, as well as virtual classes and classes in your home. For after-school offerings, they offer pick-up from PS 282, PS 133, PS 321, and Berkeley Carroll.

3rd Place from the Sun | DUMBO | NOW OPEN
3rd Place from the Sun opened September 12 in DUMBO, giving the neighborhood its first dedicated board game and Dungeons & Dragons spot. The team also runs Last Place on Earth, in Greenpoint, known for its extensive game collection and welcoming D&D community. The new DUMBO location features 100 brand-new games, plenty of tables, and private themed rooms designed for immersive D&D sessions, complete with soundproof glass, lighting effects, and a sound system. Kids and teens are welcome (best for 7 and up, and ages 11+ can play without an adult), and drop-in hours run daily from 12–10pm (closed Tuesdays; Sundays open until 8pm). Play is $15 per person for up to two hours, and adults can BYOB. Their first Family D&D event, Family Fantasy Quest, is coming up on September 28 from 2-4pm! Brooklyn Basement Dance Company | DUMBO | NOW OPEN
Brooklyn Basement Dance Company officially opened its doors on September 15 at 82 John Street in DUMBO, offering kids and teens (ages 5-18) dance training in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics. Programs include the Competition Program—5+ hours/week with three competitions and a year-end recital—and à la carte Dance Foundation classes, also ending with a recital. The 2,700 square-foot-studio has two rehearsal rooms, with classes Monday–Thursday starting at 4pm, plus on Saturday mornings. Free intro classes are available; schedule yours here! Fall classes are in session, but there’ still space for more dancers! Classes for tots are on Saturdays at 10 am, drop-ins welcome. And they will be adding another tots class on Wednesdays at 4pm in the coming weeks.

123 Boerum Childcare | Boerum Hill | NOW OPEN
This new childcare center in Boerum Hill serves toddlers ages 12–36 months in a cozy, newly renovated home-based setting. Daily activities include early language and literacy, music and movement, sensory play, art, outdoor visits to neighborhood parks, and guided social learning, along with weekly yoga, show-and-share, themed cooking, and home economics. Two dedicated playrooms support dramatic play, art, meals, circle time, and group activities.

Ladybug Daycare | New location in Boerum Hill | NOW OPEN
Ladybug Daycare & Preschool has a new center in Boerum Hill, located at 299 Pacific Street. They have programs for infants, toddlers, 2-year-olds, 3K & UPK, afterschool, and summer camp. The center features bright classrooms and an outdoor playground.

Ia’s Learning Tree | New location in Carroll Gardens | NOW OPEN
Ia’s Learning Tree, with locations in Park Slope, South Slope, and Windsor Terrace, has a new daycare at 53 2nd Street in Carroll Gardens. The family-owned center offers Montessori- and Dewey-inspired programs for infant and toddlers (12 weeks to 3 years), as well as full-day preschool programs for 2 and 3-year-olds, with extracurriculars like music, Spanish, and yoga, plus meals included. The Carroll Gardens location features the first and second floors of a brownstone and a spacious backyard for year-round play.

Logicus Math School | Park Slope | NOW OPEN
Logicus, a K–12 after-school math enrichment program, has opened its second location in Park Slope. Logicus offers small-group classes (up to six students) built around a rigorous, logic-based curriculum inspired by Russian and Singapore math traditions. The program supports students from early elementary through high school, emphasizing problem-solving, number sense, and collaborative learning. Space Club | DUMBO | Opening October 2025
Space Club is set to open its third location this October at 256 Plymouth Street, offering kids of all ages a massive bead pit, a Magna-Tile pit, scarf-blowing machines, trampolines, a three-level playground with slides, a bedazzling room, multiple party rooms, a café, and—coming in 2026—a rooftop greenhouse. This new location will open to members on October 27 and then be open for everyone starting on November 1. Memberships are $299/month with a $299 joining fee, and include free classes, free entry for infant siblings, free movie nights, plus access to after-school care and 50% off birthday parties and in the café. Passes for non-members will cost $39 for two hours and cover one adult and one child. After-school programs will launch in January 2026, and will include homework help, arts and crafts, open play, and even school pick-up for kids in Pre-K through 6th grade. Ferox Ninja Playground | DUMBO | Opening October 2025
Ferox, the indoor ninja park based in Greenpoint, is opening a new location this fall at 65 Jay Street (between Front & Water) in DUMBO. Called Ferox Ninja Playground, the 5,000-square-foot facility is designed specifically for kids in grades K–5 and can host up to 50–60 children at a time. The DUMBO space will be smaller than the Greenpoint gym but will feature a trampoline area, climbing walls, and age-appropriate ninja warrior–style obstacle courses. The facility will offer open play, after-school classes, and birthday parties. Their grand opening will take place on October 26.

Velto Pickleball Club | Red Hook | Opening Fall 2025
Velto Pickleball Club is scheduled to open in Fall 2025 on the second floor of the Tesla Building at 160 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, occupying 14,000 square feet with four full-size courts, a half-court, a mezzanine lounge, and a smoothie bar. The club, New York City’s first fully automated pickleball facility, will offer competitive matches, open play, lessons and clinics, coaching, private events, and leagues for players of all skill levels. Additional spaces include lounges and coworking areas. Hours will be Monday through Sunday from 6am to 12am, with separate peak and off-peak pricing for members and non-members.

SWEAT440 is opening a new studio in Park Slope, offering daily 40-minute HIIT workouts that start every 10 minutes. Classes are designed to complement any fitness routine. The Goods Mart | Williamsburg | Opening Fall/Winter 2025
The Goods Mart, a convenience store focused on healthier snacks and pantry staples, is coming later this year to Williamsburg Wharf, the new mixed-use waterfront development at 470 Kent Avenue. This will be the shop’s first location in Williamsburg, joining a retail lineup at Williamsburg Wharf that includes a new location of Breads Bakery and a restaurant from chef Eyal Shani. The female-owned Goods Mart offers snacks, drinks, and everyday items from emerging brands.

Brooklyn Uprising | DUMBO | Opening January 2026
Brooklyn Uprising, a new indoor climbing gym, is set to open in January 2026 at 20 John Street in DUMBO, directly across from Brooklyn Bridge Park. Alongside bouldering walls, the facility will feature weight training, a sauna, and locker rooms, plus options for climbing coaching and personal training. The gym will be for ages 16 and up. K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotels | DUMBO | Opening in 2026
K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel is opening its first NYC location in early 2026 at 295 Front Street. The facility will feature luxury boarding, daycare, and an outdoor play areas. K9 Resorts features for cage-free suites for its furry guests. The DUMBO outpost will be the first of several planned New York City locations as the company expands.

Petit Poussins | New location in Carroll Gardens | Opening January 2026
Petits Poussins is opening up a new location in Carroll Gardens at 283 Court Street. The French-English bilingual daycare will infants and toddlers ages 3 months to 2 years. Each classroom has one French-speaking teacher and one English-speaking teacher, with a curriculum focused on early language acquisition, well-being, and the development of fine and gross motor skills. Wally | New location in Downtown Brooklyn | Opening date TBA
A new dental care center, Wally, is coming to Ashland Place in Downtown Brooklyn. Founding Memberships will include unlimited dental cleanings and whitening for $174/year (normally $249).
