New restaurants, bars, and coffee shops opening in our neighborhoods in March ’24

Check out our round up of the newest restaurants, bars, and coffee shops that opened their doors in our neighborhoods this month, including a Mexican-Lebanese taqueria in Cobble Hill, a Greek bistro in Williamsburg, DUMBO’s newest cocktail bar, and a retro diner on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights.

Bed Stuy

Izakaya Tenzo: Izakaya Tenzo is a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine in Bed Stuy, including sashimi, fried and grilled dishes, sushi, plus wine, beer, and sake.

Swell Dive: This bar, which closed post-pandemic, is reopening under two former employees, and serving tropical cocktails and a Filipino inspired menu.

Boerum Hill

Homeslice II Pizzeria: This pizzeria, based in Prospect Heights, has opened up a new location on 4th Avenue between Bergen and Dean.

Katana SushiThis sushi spot is now open in the space where LumDee was located on Columbia Street near Sackett. Dine in, or take-out available.

Brooklyn Heights 

Montague Diner: Montague Diner is already a hit with locals in Brooklyn Heights, serving both traditional diner fare and modern takes on American classics. The team behind the restaurant is a group of Brooklynites, including film directors and a production designer. Montague Diner is currently open from 6am to 11pm daily and hopes to be open 24 hours in the future.

Cobble Hill

El Cedro: A Lebanese taqueria has arrived on Atlantic Avenue and is currently BYOB. Dishes are a fusion of flavors from Lebanon and Mexico. Try the Hashwe burrito, Shawarma carne asada taco, or the Samke pescado taco, and rice pudding for dessert.

Columbia Street Waterfront District

BonBon: This Swedish candy store has opened a new location in the Columbia Street Waterfront District, near Red Hook. Their new warehouse, with a striking entrance, has a candy shop inside that will be open Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 11-5pm. On Sundays, Swedish hot dogs will also be for sale!

DUMBO

Main Street Landing: This stylist new spot was opened by the team from Due West, a cocktail joint in the West Village. Main Street Landing occupies two floors across the street from the entrance to Brooklyn Bridge Park, and serves an extensive list of cocktails, including espresso martinis on draft. Their menu also includes a raw bar, shareable plates, wine, and beer. Note: there are no high chairs, and strollers are not allowed in the dining room.

Pastrami Queen @ Time Out MarketThe deli, which originated in Williamsburg, has opened its newest location in DUMBO’s Time Out Market. Try their namesake, the pastrami sandwich, as well as knishes, onion rings, and pigs in a blanket.

Fort Greene

Sukh: This new Thai restaurant in Fort Greene is inspired by Thailand’s railway history. Guests will feel like they are on a train ride, discovering the many places where dishes originated.

Greenpoint

Blue Collar Burger: The Brooklyn-based burger chain opened a new location on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint.

Banks Tavern: Taking over the space that Grand Republic Cocktail Club used to occupy, Banks Tavern is a new neighborhood bar in Greenpoint. The owner, Homer Murray, also runs 21 Greenpoint right next door.

Greek Kitchen: This fast-casual Greek restaurant opened on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint this month.

Pan Pan Vino Vino: The restaurant Nura in Greenpoint has opened a new bakery that is a wine bar by night.

Wise Guy: This new speakeasy is also a coworking space! The cocktail lounge has $10 martinis on Thursdays and local DJs on the weekends.

Park Slope

Sofreh Café: This Persian restaurant is the project of chef owner Nasim Alikhani, who was a semi-finalist for this year’s James Beard Foundation’s award for best chef in New York state.

Bar Louise: This 3rd location from the Pasta Louise team opened on March 20. They serve craft cocktails (many inspired by roses in Brooklyn Botanic Garden) and small plates. No reservations, and their kitchen closes at 10pm daily.

 

Sunset Park

Bitter Monk: Industry City has a new cocktail bar in the 34th Street Building (Second Floor). Its sister restaurant is Sugar Monk, a speakeasy in Harlem.

Williamsburg

Blue Brown Cafe: Williamsburg’s newest coffee shop sells classic espresso drinks and also features Thai inspired coffees and teas.

Meraki Greek Bistro: The Greek bistro is part of a small chain from South Florida, and this is its first location in New York. The menu features traditional Greek dishes and has family-style platters for two to four people.

Sungold @ Arlo Williamsburg: The Arlo hotel’s new restaurant, Sungold, opened on March 22. They serve food and drinks all day long in their open dining room space, which has a wood-fired oven and outdoor patio seating. The chef is Michael King, formerly of the Ace Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn.

Titi’s: This casual family-run empanada restaurant opened this month in Williamsburg.

With Others: This new natural wine bar also serves small plates including charcuterie, oysters, bar snacks, and small seasonal plates.

 

Restaurant openings to look forward to

These new spots are coming soon to our neighborhoods!

Laurel Bakery | Columbia Street Waterfront District | Opening April 12

This new bakery comes from the team behind restaurants Oxalis and Place des Fêtes. Customers will find baguettes, loaves, pastries, and more. Laurel will also supply sister restaurants Oxalis and Place des Fêtes with its baked goods.

Goog (formerly Somtum Der) | Red Hook | Reopening April 13

Red Hook’s Somtum Der briefly closed and will reopen under a new name, Goog, on April 13. The Isan Thai restaurant plans to serve simper, less spicy Thai food.

Fogo de Chão | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening April 15

The Brazilian steakhouse will open a new location in Downtown Brooklyn’s City Point next month. This will be the restaurant’s third location in New York City.

Blue Hour | Bushwick | Opening in April

This halal takeout counter will be set up inside a Bushwick gas station. The owner, Ali Zaman, is the son of the owners of Sami’s Kabab House in Astoria.

Ruta Oaxaca | Boerum Hill | Opening in April 

This Mexican restaurant is opening a location on Smith Street in April.

Two New Taquerias coming to Williamsburg & Greenpoint | Opening in April & May

Enrique Olvera, the owner of Cosme and Atla, is opening a new taqueria in Williamsburg, across the street from the Joe’s Pizza. In Greenpoint, Taqueria El Chato will open in this May.

Huda | East Williamsburg | Outdoor patio opening on May 1

Huda is a new Levantine bistro serving Middle Eastern dishes from Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and beyond. The restaurant opened last fall, but their outdoor patio will open on May 1 for the summer season.

Blank Street Coffee | Brooklyn Heights | Summer 2024

The Brooklyn-based chain will be opening up a new location at One Boerum Place, on the corner of Boerum Place and Red Hook Lane. Blank Street serves coffee, matcha, and breakfast all day.

Smør | Clinton Hill | Summer 2024

This Scandinavian bakery based in East Village will open a second location on Putnam Avenue, between Downing Street and Grand Avenue. Smør will also serve small plates at night.
