New restaurants, bars, bakeries and cafés that opened in our neighborhoods in March ’25

March brought an exciting influx of new restaurants our neighborhoods, from Radio Bakery’s new location in Prospect Heights to a unique Carroll Gardens restaurant offering a photo shoot with its tasting menu. There’s also a new pasta joint in Park Slope, Industry City’s first and only fine dining experience, and so much more.

And there’s even more excitement ahead! Keep reading to discover the latest on upcoming openings, including ABC Kitchens in DUMBO, an Italian restaurant from the team behind Four Horsemen in Williamsburg, and the transformation of a Williamsburg dive bar into an Italian-American restaurant.

But first, here’s the latest on some recent closures:

  • East One Coffee, a beloved neighborhood cafe and restaurant in Carroll Gardens, closed their doors on March 7. The former manager is soliciting support from the community as they make a case to the landlord to reopen at 384 Court Street, with new ownership and a new coffee brand. Sign the petition here!
  • Since we last reported on the closing of Ferdinando’s Focacceria in February, there’s been an exciting development. The 121-year-old Italian restaurant in Carroll Gardens will reopen under a new owner: Sal Lamboglia, who owns the popular neighborhood restaurants Cafe Spaghetti, Swoony’s and Sal Tang’s.
  • Van Brunt Stillhouse closed this month after 13 years in Red Hook due to rising rent and production costs. Since the closing, bottles of the local whiskey are selling for 3 times the regular price on the internet.
  • The Latin American cocktail bar Leyenda closed its doors on March 29 after 10 years on Smith Street. Leyenda was the sister institution of Clover Club, Julie Reiner’s longstanding cocktail spot across the street on Smith.
  • Marlow and Sons has announced that it will close on Sunday, April 6 after 20 years in Williamsburg. Owner Andrew Tarlow announced on Instagram: “I’m heartbroken to have to close Marlow & Sons, but a recent significant increase in our rent has presented a financial challenge that we aren’t able to overcome.” Marlow and Sons was cafe by day, restaurant and bar by night, with a general store in the front.
