New restaurants, bars, bakeries, and cafés that opened in our neighborhoods in September ’25

This fall has brought a fresh wave of restaurant openings, from Barbuto’s new Brooklyn Bridge Park location to an omakase spot in the Ace Hotel in Boerum Hill, a non-alcoholic bar in Greenpoint and a Bavarian-inspired brewery and taproom in East Williamsburg. More openings are on the way, including ABC Kitchens in DUMBO, a Maine-style pizza spot in Park Slope, and a new Asian grocery store on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill—scroll down for the full roundup!

First up, some of this month’s notable closings:

  • The wine bar and restaurant Pips on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights has closed, with their last service on September 27.
  • Café Kitsuné in Boerum Hill closed as part of a larger shut-down of all US stores.
  • Mazzola Bakery in Carroll Gardens is up for sale. The 80-year-old bakery opened in 1928 by the Mazzola family, who sold it in 1980 to the Caravello family.
  • Gahm by Mokbar in Park Slope has closed. The Korean restaurant was led by “Iron Chef” finalist Esther Choi.
  • Steve’s 9th Street Market in Park Slope suddenly closed its doors on September 30, eliminating one of the neighborhood’s most affordable grocery options. Residents and local officials are calling for more accessible, budget-friendly stores—especially since Steve’s spacious aisles served as a vital resource for people with disabilities—amid worries that the site may be redeveloped into luxury housing. • Pisces Sushi & Fish Market will be closing soon, and the Foodtown supermarket will be expanding next door into their space.
