New restaurants, bars, bakeries, cafés, and supermarkets that opened in our neighborhoods in February ’26

February brought the openings of several exciting new spots in Brooklyn: from a London-inspired public house in Prospect Heights to a ’90s-themed arcade and ice cream shop in Park Slope to new bar taking over the iconic Pencil Factory in Greenpoint. This month also brought the closures of some notable restaurants, bars, and bakeries—the beloved Achilles Heel in Greenpoint among them. However, some exciting openings are yet to come, including a Smorgasburg pop-up on Governors Island and an authentic Texas barbecue joint coming to Greenpoint this summer. This month’s restaurant closings

  • Achilles Heel | Greenpoint | This beloved neighborhood staple and waterfront bar is officially closing its doors.
  • Bạn Bè | Carroll Gardens | This Vietnamese bakery closed its storefront on January 31 but will continue to operate as an online business.
  • Laurel Bakery | Columbia Street Waterfront | This acclaimed bakery closed in early February with plans to eventually reopen near its sibling, Cafe Mado, in Prospect Heights.
  • Julien Boulangerie | Park Slope | The Parisian-style counter has closed all New York City locations, including its award-winning pastry shop in Park Slope.
  • Mayfield | Crown Heights | This long-standing neighborhood favorite for American fare and oyster happy hours is closing at the end of the month.

 

This month’s restaurant openings

Just Salad | Downtown Brooklyn | The fast-casual salad spot Just Salad has opened at City Point, brining a fast, healthy option to Downtown Brooklyn. For their opening, they are offering a Reusable Bowl Happy Hours weekdays 2/16–3/6 (bring or buy a Reusable Bowl for a $9.69 salad or warm bowl, weekdays from 3-6pm).

SoBol | Downtown Brooklyn | Now open at 41 Flatbush Avenue, this spot offers a healthy fast-food alternative with a menu of acai and green bowls, fruit smoothies, and more.

The Fresh Grocer | Downtown Brooklyn | Fulton Mall has a new supermarket. The Pennsylvania-based chain The Fresh Grocer opened at 523 Fulton Street on February 13th. The store is open daily from 7:00am-10:00pm.

Monshe | Brooklyn Navy Yard

A new pop-up “Yard Opportunity Shop” in the Brooklyn Navy Yard will give small, minority- and woman-owned businesses (MWBEs) the opportunity to take over the shop and showcase their products on a rotating basis. The first business to operate out of the YOS in Building 92, is Monshe, a gluten and sugar-free specialty bakery that has released a Navy Yard-exclusive Blueberry Lemon cookie, available through May 23.

Confidant | Brooklyn Heights | Taking over the former Colonie space at 127 Atlantic Avenue, this Industry City transplant serves New American wood-fired dishes and natural wines. The team also plans to open Lou & Bev’s, an all-day bakery and pizza bar, next door this spring.

The Vaux Social | Prospect Heights | Inspired by London public houses, this spot at 570 Vanderbilt Avenue serves elevated British fare like wild boar sausage rolls and sticky toffee pudding.

Mariscos El Submarino | Park Slope | This Jackson Heights favorite has brought Sinaloa-style Mexican seafood to a new location at 226 7th Avenue. The menu features octopus tacos, aguachile, and seafood towers.

Dial Up Days | Park Slope | The team behind Park Slope News Stand, this nostalgic 90s and Y2K-themed café at 83 7th Avenue features arcade games, throwback music videos, candy and snacks, and a menu featuring sandwiches, ice cream cones, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, and slushies.

Kubo | Bed-Stuy | This Filipino cocktail bar at 1013 Bedford Avenue occupies the former Swell Dive space and hosts regular pop-ups and drag shows.

MoCo 575 | Bed-Stuy | This Yemeni American micro-roastery at 531 Nostrand Avenue serves traditional Mufawar coffee and brunch.

GiGi Curry & Noodle Bar | Bushwick | Located at 264 Bleecker Street, this fast-casual eatery specializes in build-your-own bowls with various noodles, curries, and proteins.

Kitaro | Bushwick | A sleek Japanese cafe at 12 Belvidere Street offering eight types of onigiri and drinks naturally sweetened with fermented amazake and koji.

Boil & Bite | Williamsburg | This seafood takeout spot at 148 North Seventh Street features lobster rolls, British-style chip butties, and vegan banana blossom “fish.”

Joy Flower Pot | Williamsburg | A hybrid floral studio and Vietnamese coffee shop at 713 Lorimer Street is a new spot to post up for a catch-up with friends or a work session, and they will also host arrangement workshops and community events.

Whole Foods Daily Shop | Williamsburg | Whole Foods has opened 7,888-square-foot “daily shop” at 774 Grand Street in Williamsburg, part of its smaller-format, grab-and-go concept.  The bodega-style shop will feature local Northeast products alongside fresh produce, sushi, rotisserie chicken, take-and-bake pizzas, seasonal salads, and 365 brand staples, plus artisanal cheeses and baked goods from Junior’s and Balthazar.

Partners Coffee | Williamsburg | Partners their 2nd Williamsburg location at North 9th and Bedford this month, in the former space of Teressa North Ninth.

Sonny’s Corner | Greenpoint | Taking over the iconic Pencil Factory space at 142 Franklin Street, this neighborhood bar serves classic cocktails, frozen piña coladas, and soon, a full food menu.

Cup Of Joe Coffee Co. | Bay Ridge | Cup Of Joe Coffee Co. just opened its second Bay Ridge location at the corner of 89th Street and 3rd Avenue. Stop by for delicious pastries and drinks like a vanilla rose latte or a black cherry matcha.

Kampos Taverna | Bay Ridge | Kampos Taverna opened at the end of month at 8413 Third Avenue. Highlights of this new Greek restaurant include their baked feta, pork-belly rib steak, and mixed grill for two. They also have a large selection of Greek wine and beer to complement your meal.

Pura Vida | DUMBO | Opening date TBA | This Miami-based health cafe is bringing a massive 4,000-square-foot outpost to 79 Front Street, featuring a menu of avocado toasts, superfood smoothies, and wellness shots.

Empanada City | Brooklyn Heights | Opening Summer 2026 | A new empanada spot is opening at 107 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights this summer.

Ben and Jerry’s | Fort Greene | Opening Winter/Spring 2026 | A new location of Ben and Jerry’s is opening at 431 Myrtle Avenue later this year.

Ingas Bar Sister Restaurant | Boerum Hill | Winter/Spring 2026 Ingas Bar, a popular neighborhood restaurant in Brooklyn Heights, will open a sister restaurant in Boerum Hill, in the former space of Café Kitsuné. The new spot will have an adjacent bar on Bond Street, which will follow the restaurant’s opening.

Bar Ferdinando | Carroll Gardens | Opening March 2026 | Owner Sal Lamboglia is reimagining the historic Ferdinando’s Focacceria at 151 Union Street with a menu of Sicilian classics, Radio Bakery-inspired pastries, and Italian cocktails. The space preserves original artwork and fixtures to honor the 121-year-old neighborhood institution.

Trudie’s Tavern | Carroll Gardens | Opening Spring 2026 | The team behind Gertie will open a new concept in Carroll Gardens, in the former home of Buttermilk Channel at 524 Court Street. They will serve steak and rotisserie chicken, burgers, chicken and waffles made with matzo, steak and seafood towers, plus a kid’s menu.

Hōp | Red Hook | Opening Summer/Fall 2026 | Two former staff members of Red Hook Tavern (and husband-and-wife team) will open a new Cambodian restaurant at 358 Van Brunt Street. The menu will likely feature dishes including beef skewers, whole branzino, fried noodles, and charred vegetables.

Thursday Bread Coffee | Park Slope | Opening Winter 2026 | A new bakery serving Swedish breads and pastries is coming to Park Slope this winter. They will serve Nordic-inspired coffee and light bites in addition to breads and baked goods. The bakery will be located at 140 5th Avenue.

Pies ‘n’ Thighs | Park Slope | Opening Winter 2026 | The Williamsburg Southern food spot Pies ‘n’ Thighs  is opening a second location at 224 Flatbush Avenue, the former home of Pecking House.

Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop | Gowanus | Opening date TBA | The beloved Greenpoint slice shop is slated to open a new location in Gowanus. It will be located in the former home of Ample Hills at 305 Nevins Street. Stay tuned for more updates!

Bark Barbecue | Bushwick | Opening March 2026 | This barbecue spot is expanding from a Time Out Market food stall to a new standalone 8,000 square foot restaurant, serving Texas-style barbecue with Dominican flavors. The menu will include brisket, chicharrones, smoked carnitas, and sandwiches with pulled pork, fried cheese, and sweet plantains.

Bodega Nights | Bushwick | Opening March 2026 | This Lower East Side spinoff from the Babysips team brings natural, low-intervention wines and a menu of Iberian and Brazilian dishes to 425 Troutman Street this March. Expect small-production bottles paired with salt cod fritters, house-made sausages, and hearth-style whole fish or steaks.

Monday Diner | Bushwick | Opening Summer 2026 | The former pastry chef of Gage & Tollner, Caroline Schiff, will open a diner in Bushwick this summer. The menu will include both savory dishes and sweet desserts, including cakes, pies, ice creams, and sundaes.

Motek | Williamsburg | Opening Winter 2026 | A new location of Motek, the Miami-based Mediterranean restaurant chain known for its Israeli-inspired, kosher-style dishes has opened on Wythe Avenue. They serve lunch, brunch, and dinner, with a food menu including hummus, pita, schnitzel, and more.

Konya by Konban | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA |  A new hand-roll and izakaya restaurant by the Manhattan restaurant Konban is opening at 235 Kent Avenue, near the waterfront in Williamsburg.

Gotham Burger Social Club | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA | The first permanent Brooklyn home for the legendary pop-up will open in 2026, specializing in Oklahoma-style fried onion smash burgers and a full whiskey-focused bar program.

Momoya Soho | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA | The Manhattan sushi spot is expanding to Williamsburg with a new location at 216 Wythe Avenue, offering high-end omakase and Izakaya fare.

Fluke Moon (Ugly Baby) | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA | Ugly Baby, the beloved Carroll Gardens Thai spot famous for their spicy dishes, has announced that they will reopen in Williamsburg. Now known as Fluke Moon, they will take over the former Emmy Squared Pizza at 364 Grand Street, and hope to open in February.

Allegretto | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA | From the team behind Francie, this new spot at 132 Broadway will serve Neapolitan pizzas, Southern Italian snacks, and more dishes like Fried Bucatini and Little Gem Caesar, plus Italian-inspired cocktails and wine on tap. The space will feature a wood-fired oven and a garden backyard.

Breads Bakery | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA | Following their latest opening at the new Pier 1 Pavilion in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Breads Bakery announced that they will open another Brooklyn waterfront location at Williamsburg Wharf. Breads is best known for their chocolate babka, plus croissants, baguettes, and more baked goods.

Naked Tomato | Williamsburg | Opening date TBA | The renowned Israeli Chef Eyal Shani will open a new restaurant at Williamsburg Wharf, called Naked Tomato. The restaurant will occupy 4,000 square feet on the ground floor at 470 Kent Avenue. Some of Chef Shani’s restaurants have included Port Sa’id, Michelin-starred Shmoné, HaSalon, Miznon, and the Kosher-certified restaurant Malka, with NYC locations on the Upper West Side and in DUMBO.

The Goods Mart | Williamsburg | Spring 2026 | The Goods Mart, a convenience store focused on healthier snacks and pantry staples, is coming to Williamsburg Wharf, the new mixed-use waterfront development at 470 Kent Avenue. This will be the shop’s first location in Williamsburg.

The Peek Inn | Greenpoint | Opening March 2026 | From the team behind The Meat Hook, The Peek Inn will open in Greenpoint in March. (Not to be confused with Peek Inn Cafe, which opened this month in Greenpoint!) They will serve hot dogs and a “beertini” served dirty with olives. It will be located in the former Fin Du Monde space at 38 Driggs Avenue.

Kirbee’s | Greenpoint | Opening Summer 2026 | Texas pitmasters Chuck Charnichart and Jonny White are bringing authentic brisket, pork ribs, and $1 beers to 55 McGuinness Boulevard this summer.

Malavita | Greenpoint | Opening date TBA |  Malavita will serve Italian-style sandwiches and wine at 614 Manhattan Avenue.

New headquarters for Brooklyn Brewery | Greenpoint | Opening date TBA | Brooklyn Brewery will soon move to its new headquarters at 1 Wythe Avenue in Greenpoint, leaving behind their original space at 790 North 11th Street. Construction of the 41,000 square foot building is nearing completion.

Six Coasts by Smorgasburg | Governors Island | Opening May 2026

Starting in May 2026, Six Coasts by Smorgasburg will open a 32,000-square-foot waterfront destination on Governors Island, offering a seasonal seafood menu and tropical cocktails inspired by six distinct American coastlines. This family-friendly spot will offer cultural programming and live music as well.
