New York State test results 2024 for Charter schools in our neighborhoods

Students in local Charter Schools outperformed students at District 13 and 15 public schools in the English and Math Standardized State Tests in 2024. Percentages are the numbers of students who met or exceeded expectations on the state assessments at each school in Grades 3 to 8. Our overview includes results for Charter schools in Downtown Brooklyn, Cobble Hill, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Sunset Park, and Bed Stuy.

English and Math results for Charter schools in District 13 & 15

Students at Success Academy Cobble Hill and Prospect Charter Schools achieved the highest scores, and math scores at Success Academy outperformed all local public and Charter schools in District 13 & 15, with 99% participating in testing and 97.9% meeting or exceeding the standards on the Math exam.

Charter vs. public school results in 2024

These charter school scores were all above the citywide public school averages for English Language Arts and Math tests. Across New York City public schools, math scores in grades 3-8 increased 3.5 points, with 53% of students meeting or exceeding the standards. English Language Arts scores decreased 2.6 points in grades 3-8, with 49% of students meeting or exceeding the standards. 

The following District 13 & 15 public schools had the highest performing students in these tests in 2024:

  • PS 11 in Clinton Hill: 89% in Math, 91% in English
  • PS 29 in Cobble Hill: 88% in Math, 85% in English
  • PS 8 in Brooklyn Heights: 87% in Math, 83% in English
