PS 9 in Prospect Heights discontinues Gifted & Talented program

PS 9 in Prospect Heights will discontinue its District 13 Gifted and Talented Program at the end of this school year for incoming students. The PS 9 School Leadership Team had previously voted on it and this vote has now been signed off by the Department of Education. Students currently in the G&T program will be able to stay in the G&T program until 5th Grade graduation.

A department spokesperson released a statement saying, “The DOE supports schools in making decisions that benefit their school communities, and that PS 9 developed a proposal to begin the phase in of a school-wide enrichment model.” That school-wide enrichment  model will start in the fall.

The Spanish Dual Language Program at PS 9 will not be affected by this decision.
