Fort Greene Preparatory Academy is launching the first French Dual Language Program in a District 13 middle school this September with one section of 25 students.

The new program has specifically been designed to provide continuity for students who are attending French Dual Language Programs at Brooklyn’s elementary schools.  Acceptance into the program will be prioritized for interested families with students currently attending French Dual Language Programs at PS 133 and PS 20 in District 13 and then for interested families with students in FDLP in neighboring districts who are seeking seats in a continuing FDL program. There are 25 seats available for September 2020. In the past, students living in District 13 have often attended the French Dual Language Program at Boerum Hill School for International Studies that has become quite popular over the last two years and has not been able to accept all bilingual students from out of District 15 into the French middle school program.

Families can apply to the school in myschools using the waitlist process.  Once you log in to your account you should click on the waitlist, search for Fort Greene Preparatory Academy, and apply to the waitlist.  Please also email directly (plettie2@schools.nyc.gov) regarding your interest and let her know if you are successful with applying through the waitlist.

In addition, as part of their general program Fort Greene Preparatory Academy is offering French Language courses as an option to students who are interested in beginning to learn the language who are not currently attending French Dual Language Programs.  For families that are interested in their general program who are not currently matched to Fort Greene Preparatory Academy, you can also apply via the waitlist and seats will be offered as they become available on a first come first serve basis.
