Whether you work or live in DUMBO get local, organic, farm-fresh produce all summer long and help support local farmers and producers by becoming a member of the DUMBO + Vinegar Hill CSA for the 2016 summer. The 25-week season is almost here so be sure to register by Saturday, April 30th and register before March 15th for a free tote bag!
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) offers a way for people in our neighborhood to buy vegetables, fruit, cheese, ready to eat products and bread directly from local farmers and producers. Here’s how it works:
- Vegetable Shares: Every member must purchase a Full or Half Vegetable Share and will receive a weekly selection of fresh, organic vegetables—approximately eight different varieties each week (though it may be more during peak harvest months). The cost is $650 for 25 weeks ($26 per week).
- Optional Add-On Shares: Fruit for $250 and cheese for $250 ($13.88 per week for 18 weeks). This year you can also sign up to receive a weekly selection of Ready to Eat homemade products from Sang Lee’s certified organic kitchen, from seasonal soups and salads to dressings, pestos, and dips ($500 for 25 weeks). The CSA is also partnering with Carissa’s Breads to offer weekly bread offerings.
- Pickups: Wednesday evenings from 5-8 PM at the Phoenix House on 50 Jay Street. The season runs from June to November.
This will be DUMBO + Vinegar Hill CSA’s 9th season partnering with farmer Fred Lee of Sang Lee Farms, a family-owned and -operated certified organic farm on the North Fork of Long Island for organic vegetables. Briermere Farm provides the fruit, and the cheese share rotates between a selection of nine New York State dairy farms. We are also offering bread from Carissa’s Breads of Montauk to CSA members.
