Spring break fun for families in Brooklyn and beyond

Spring break for New York City Public Schools is Thursday, April 2nd through Sunday, April 12th. We have rounded up events and activities in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island, and The Bronx to help keep your family entertained during their time off from school. From roller skating and a vintage popup marketplace in Brooklyn, to a children’s museum in Staten Island, the orchid show in The Bronx, a candy experience and the math museum in Manhattan, and car shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan, get ready to have a great time!

Pier 2 Roller Rink at Brooklyn Bridge Park

Check out the schedule below and skate at the Pier 2 Roller Rink in Brooklyn Bridge Park. They offer free admission during various times, and fun themed skates – including an Easter Celebration, Sonic Skate, Mario Skate Party, and more. They have skate aids available to rent for those that need a little extra help.

New York International Auto Show at the Javits Center

Staten Island Children’s Museum at Snug Harbor

The Staten Island Children’s Museum will be open all of spring break to learn and play. Explore multiple levels of exhibits including Block Harbor, Big Games, House About It, Ladder 11, and much more! There are also enclosed exhibits to explore outside.

Wheels of NYC at the Brooklyn Navy Yard

Saturday, April 4th | 10:00am-6:00pm | $45/person, ages 12 and under are free | Purchase here

Wheels of NYC returns to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, bringing classic cars together with NYC’s fashion, music, and food in one curated daytime experience. Visitors will find a selected lineup of classic cars, a marketplace of apparel and collectibles, DJs throughout the day, curated food vendors, a bar, and adult and kids activations.

Sakura Japanese Makers Market at The Loft at Japan Village

Saturday, April 4th and Sunday, April 5th | Saturday 11:00am-6:00pm and Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm | FREE | Industry City in Sunset Park 

A cherry blossom–inspired market featuring Japanese and Japanese-inspired artists and makers. Shop handmade goods, enjoy craft activities, and experience special programming including pottery and matcha workshops.

Kids Week with the Urban Park Rangers across New York City

Earth Rocks at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum

Puppetsburg Interactive Show for Babies and Toddlers: Spring Break at PlayWell Brooklyn

Puppetsburg rocks interactive, contemporary puppet shows for 0-6yrs. Their professional performers are the best around, and each show is full of magic and surprise. Audience members are encouraged to be active participants rather than seated in chairs. The show time is 10:00am-10:45am, with 15 minutes of included open play from 10:45am-11:00am.

Opening Day at the Prospect Park Audubon Center in Prospect Park

Join Prospect Park Alliance to kick off the spring season with fun nature activities. Families and children can learn about bird migration through interactive games, join a story hour led by our teen staff, and stay to see a screening of The Lorax.

The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle at New York Botanical Garden

i Candy NYC is a four-floor, New York City-themed immersive candy experience. Guests buy a ticket and receive a container to fill with candy as they move through the experience. There are tons of fun photo opportunities throughout!

MoMath – National Museum of Mathematics in Chelsea

MoMath reopened at the end of February in their beautiful and brand new location in Chelsea. Full of learning and fun, families will enjoy their kid-friendly math activities and exhibits.
